To be fair, whataboutism is leftis' favorite deflection when called out on their double standardsIt's a lot more complicated than that. Marxism is not an original sin under any understanding. Rather, it is - if you'll excuse the neologism - a revolutionist ideology that has no end or point of satiation. What I mean by this is in contrast to the English Civil War or American Revolution, which were revolutions in one nation and after that the revolution was over, Marxism is the spawn of the French Revolution, which had the idea to go virilent and export its revolution. Arguments could be made for and against such a thing; but the problem with Marxism is you can never attain the utopia it sets out to create so even if the global workers rebellion is successful, it just devolved into "you're not a real socialist" series of sectarian wars where every county us trying to export their perfect revolution to the countries that suffered an imperfect revolution. And on and on it goes. The revolution never stops, until society ceases to function.
The problem here isn't necessarily Marx's ideals - which were wrong, history is not deterministic and communism is not inevitable - but rather the -ism part. The part that convinces people that these ideas must be implemented, even after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Even after China realized that it needed more of a free market, these cutlists carry on with their "inevitable" revolution.
Patriarchy and privilege are, as said before, original sins of a society. "Your society is flawed because it is male dominated". "Your society is flawed because certain ethnicities have an advantage". Whataboutisms that are true of all societies, in one way or another.
