Steven Universe - Now a Griefing Thread

I never really thought the SJW bullshit surrounding the show got into the show itself that often on my marathon of it. The only episode where I feel that was the case was probably Gem Harvest where they filled in all of the stereotypical boxes for a middle-class American "waycist" bigot where it felt like propaganda.

I think the inclusion of Shep and the weird muslim inserts were offputting. Most of the tumblr politics occurred outside of the show or were spoken by the show's writers or producers. It was very annoying.

I think the show is mostly good-natured apart from tumblr undertones. I get a lot of malice out of something like She-Ra or Thundercats Roar or whatever lazily-animated schlock comes out these days. Not so much with SU. I just wish that its writing and characters weren't unpleasant and that everyone would stop acting like it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. I'm tired of hearing thinkpieces and articles shill it when it's really not anything impressive.

The show itself is actually very mild in "SJW preachiness" all things considered, in fact, that's one big reason I gave it a chance despite me hating this woke phase of entertainment in general.

Though there is plenty of "SJW/wokeness " behind the scenes if you follow the cast on social media or watch the fandom that's where the real insanity really is, which isn't helped by the crew encouraging it.

Say if you watch that episode about Pink adopting the Rose Quartz persona, you would see it as a simple flashback episode, but people on Reddit and twitter would praise it and write essays for being a perfect "trans metaphor" and mean it.

SU, despite being made by the poster girls of Tumblr, it has handled its message well so far. Save for Shep being "nonbinary" thing I got no big complaints so far. In fact, The Gem Harvest episode was hated by SJWs for making conservative people too sympathetic believe it or not.

In fact, I commend them for being one of the few SJWs that created something good instead of hijacking an old franchise and turn it into a mess.

The chat in the SU finale stream are being so fucking autistic it makes me regret not having cable.

Edit: That was a straight up Akira reference, right?

Anyone have a picture of this Muslim insert I’ve heard about?

The perils of interacting with the fanbase. Also if it feels like a reference, it most likely is.

I was about to make a prediction about how the ending was going to be Steven fucking dying and PD coming out of his ass screaming "Honey, I'm home!"

but apparently it already aired and it's not up to par with my predictions

Once again, @Private Pyle fucking CALLED IT.

HOLY SHIT HE'S GETTING THERAPY AT LAST! :drink:
It sucks to be right sometimes.
I felt the throwaway line to the therapist felt anti climatic given how they made such a big deal about mental health. And oh hey, Greg finally got the house!
