Some encouraging news for the United States:
Louisiana sees Coronavirus curve start to flatten (archive)
Louisiana has been one of the "hot spot" states with one of the larger death tolls. The data explained in this article suggests that a curve is already showing signs of flattening in the state.
To me, this gives a pretty good outlook for several other states, if enough people can start listening and do what's right for their fellow Americans. If Louisiana, a state that got hit pretty hard, can start showing positive results due to getting their shit together, then it's going to start looking good relatively soon for many other parts of the country-- Probably by June, I predict.
This also kind of reinforces my beliefs on the outlook for the entire country in terms of a timeline. I believe that the majority of the country will be over this in a matter of a few months, whereas your densely populated areas like New York and California are going to continue getting the absolute worst of it. Those two states are going to be dealing with this for
at least the entire Summer, and probably well into Fall.
EDIT: Another interesting piece of info from this article is how the data was broken down with the deaths in Louisiana. The average age of deaths in the state is 70, and 41% were diabetic. More data to suggest that age + underlying conditions continues to be the trend with who this virus attacks the hardest, and that there are outliers (just like the flu and pneumonia).
No, I'm not saying "It's just a flu, bro." I'm just saying that the people most vulnerable to the flu are the same people who are, on average, also the most vulnerable to the WuFlu. The stories about the few "young and healthy" people who have sadly passed away have been sensationalized to get people more panicked. They're outliers. Doesn't mean that young people can be stupid about it, but it's not some death sentence at random.
