I feel like the government right claims to have several solutions to this lockdown and how to deal with this pandemic. Here they are:

"Well what do you mean nothing?" You ask amidst the heavy talks and tv podiums and lockdowns and daily press speeches and the $2 trillion bail out?
I mean as usual their response is to barely do shit and make everyone else do everything and themselves take credit for fixing the problem which is far from fixed. Regardless of which side you are if you are more on my kind of side which is that the problem can only be so contained and seems mostly contained and they should ease back on their economic hold and let some people get back to work in less affected areas or are more on the side that this is not contained enough and needs to be locked down further and dealt with more I believe in one thing:
They are doing neither very well.
They are doing a very bad job. In the areas they are trying to lock down on they are not containing the situation very well. In the areas they are trying to ease up on to rerelieve the grip on the economic situation they are not easing up very well or giving assistance well at all. Once again the public sector tries to take all the credit for what the private sector is doing. For what the people are doing. The people are fighting this. The people are trying to get back to work.
As usual the democrats say: "we will fix it all we will fix it all we will fix it all." And always fall short of their grand beyond impossible promises. No compromise.
The republicans say: "fuck you. We know what is good for you. We decide and fuck what you think. We decide now. Your opinion means nothing to us." Of course they make good on this. Their way or no way. No compromise.
What we are seeing ladies and gentleman is a cold war being fought through proxies the way the cold war between the US and Russia was fought through indirect proxies so is this biowarfare/economic attrition warfare. I suppose it could be a lot worst but what is the main point to me is this is not being handled well because it does not want to be handled well. What is being done for hospitals and the few remaining employees is being done by people and not government. Meanwhile government needs the $2 trillion bail out for their private affairs. How much of that will benefit anyone nobody knows. We are all living in a each-person-for-themself kind of society right now and its scary.
I am scared. I have never lived through this and I have seen it all in 35 years fucking wars oversea and riots and economic recessions and some of the worst African plagues the world has ever known I have been alive doing something somewhere when all of this shit happened and none if did not effect me if not at least my mind. It is the world I live in. I am part of it. It definitely effects me wether I was there for it or not. I was never in Africa but have seen the effects of global decisions and the consequences where I am are always visible. How will this end? I don't know. I can only pray. I hope this ends soon. The NHS's problem is it's fucking bloated all to hell and back by the usual middle management bullshit. Managers oft breed assistant managers inside government projects. Couple that with a now ridiculous piecemeal procurement process and you wind up with a cobbled together scheme to try and match a sudden spark in demand like we're seeing now.

The right wing are globalist in a lot of places. The whole Neocon movement really changed the way a lot of wealthy right wing people the world over think about globalism. Hell, Pat Buchanan defined right wing neoconservatism as "a globalist, interventionist, open borders ideology". Thats why as far as I'm concerned, the fight is not as much right versus left but more nationalism versus globalism.

I've mostly been giving slight observations of the DFW area since I work at the airport, which is the 5th busiest airport in the world, the 9th busiest international airport and the second largest airport in the US.
Basically, I'm a huge risk most of the time and anytime my throat gets a bit scratchy or I feel like coughing I can feel a bit of my stiff upperlip going limp.

seriously, with stuff like this, what, in your own words, are they supposed to do? where are they "doing nothing"? it's piss easy to bitch and moan with zero constructive arguments, especially when you willfully ignore half the picture.
and in all those 35 years all you seem to have been done is consoom instead of actually informing yourself why shit happens the way it does. corona is a natural outside cause that won't quarantine people forever and won't depopulate half the planet. meaning when shit is over, and it will at some point, there's nothing keeping people from picking up right where they left off. the difference right now is making it to that point.
there's also an argument to be made that the market crashing due to corona brings the correction which was coming anyway at some point, instead of the system folding in itself and causing an aftershock that will have long-lasting effects. it certainly shined a light on china's practices now that the whole world is involved, which alone can be considered a positive.
