Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

Charlie Kirk has a ton of dumb takes in general but this is especially stupid. And I'm speaking from the perspective of a Catholic, an actual person of faith, btw.
  • It sucks that people can't go to church, but it's just not safe. I feel like God would very much understand the present circumstances and wouldn't want people recklessly endangering themselves in His name.
  • There are already way too many dumbfucks, especially megachurches, who are making Christians look bad and recklessly endangering their parishes by flaunting social distancing rules. Nobody should be having large gatherings now, churches are not exempt from this rule. Faith will not protect you from a virus.
  • Lmfao at this dude thinking that we can do "socially distanced" Easter. Has he ever been to an Easter service? That's when all of the twice a year Christians come out of the woodwork and the churches get fucking packed. At my church (which is pretty large) there are several Easter services spaced an hour apart and we still have to use the school's gym as a makeshift church to fit everyone. And even then it's still jam-packed in both the main church and the gym. Social distancing is simply impossible, even for regular church services.
  • I know some places are offering streaming of church services, which while it isn't as effective as the real deal is still a good solution. Obviously there are parts you miss out on (like the Eucharist in Catholic Mass) but it's still worth it. Also, I heard that my pastor is doing one-on-one meetings with people who want Reconciliation or other sacraments. I'm sure other priests and pastors are offering their own services on a one-on-one basis too.
  • Also I'd love to see a potential lolsuit go to court. What makes him think churches are exempt from social distancing orders?
The Catholic Bishops shut Mass down BEFORE the shit hit the fan. At least around here ...

If you read the Gospels, of Paul's letters or Acts, or Revelations, or any of it, there is nothing promising that Jesus is going to wash your plague away. As a matter of fact, the only thing Christianity promises is a life of suffering and sacrifice.

There is nothing in there saying that your faith in Jesus makes you immune to plagues.

Jesus never said that he would make life easier and more pleasant for believers. In fact, quite the contrary.

The teaching that true believers and born-agains are somehow less vulnerable to infectious disease is a bit heretical, but the real issue is that they are putting a lot of people at risk.

Remember the outrage when Trump suggested PPE was going "out the back door"?
The NY Post reports a man was arrested for hoarding a huge cache of PPE, A doctor reported to investigators the suspected hoarder possessed enough medical supplies “to outfit an entire hospital.” He allegedly sold a NJ doctor 1000 masks for $12,000-a markup of roughly 700 percent.
He coofed on the FBI in an attempt to, I don't know, make things worse for himself.
The article implies these are the supplies of PPE that went missing at NY hospitals. I mean, it's not like nothing ever fell off the back of a truck in New York City, right?

The news cycle with Trump has been exceptional during this crisis. This has been the pattern:

Trump: *says anything*

Media: "Orange Man Bad! He's going to kill everyone!"

*info comes out that proves Trump right*

Media: *crickets*, *waits for the next thing to REEE about*

Rinse and fucking repeat.

I don't know how anyone remotely familiar with Christianity could look at Prosperity Theology and think it comes from anywhere but Satan's asshole. It's basically the kind of church run by rich men who want the benefits of moral authority and a fastpass to Heaven, without having to sacrifice their own wealth-driven lives of excess. My brother has a stepdaugher who is currently being lured by a prosperity megachurch that promises to give her kids a Disneyland style Sunday school as long as she pays up. (That's how the church recruits members - by charming the children and getting the kids to "Will You Take Us To Mount Splashmore" their parents into going.) Churches like this deserve to burn in Corona-chan's coochie.

Don't believe President Trump needs to worry about being re-elected. People see he's doing all he can, while Crazy Joe isn't even sure which planet he is on. Have never seen such a stark contrast.

It seems to me that God gave us soap, water, and brains with the expectation that we would be using them.

Need to piggyback on this one. I just can't see the need for church or religion. All religions are man-made constructs intended to intersperse themselves between a person and God. They also try to force people to accept man-made limitations in their lives. I call bullshit. I don't believe that anyone died on a cross for my sins. The Bible has some nice proverbs, but to me reading tales of things that may or may not have happened in the Middle East is incredibly boring. Your mileage may vary.

Speaking of church, I get that the social aspect is important to some people. But I have never seen a church that wasn't a two-tier society. There are the priest's/minister's/imam's/rabbi's/whatever's "chosen few", and then you have everyone else, the "great unwashed". Last church I attended was the most blatant example of this I've ever seen. Enough to puke a dog off a gut wagon and drive a person away from church forever, except for weddings and funerals.

The definition of insanity here folks :

Ouch. What stupid = stupid type of country for not thinking type life to live

On the bright side if they clean up their coronavirus conditions regardless of what a disgusting 3rd world country China really is then I suppose the rest of the world can too. Except of course the fact is the people who died never return. So its hard to ever really feel the world will "cleaned up" after this. Its sad. Its like those who cannot work right now are just at home mourning those who die. I guess its time the world gave a shit regardless of what the world wants or if anyone can pay for it.

While we are mourning this I suppose we can mourn every single other world catastrophe that ever happened as well. All those who died. Everyone I know who died of drugs, cancer, alcoholism, sickness, multiple sclerosis and paralysis, heart attacks, car accidents, suicide by gun, suicide by cliff and etc. Lot of grandparents friends and other associates and family. Very sad. Friends of friends shot in war. Gang violence. Let us mourn those not as fortunate.

Time to make the best of this. Fuck what the world wants or if they can afford it. It is time to pray for those. Time to remember what we had before the lockdown and enjoy it. Remember it. Appreciate it. Fuck Trump and the government and the virus. They are small symptoms of the greater problem. The greater problem is those who do not appreciate a damn thing. Now is the time to remember and appreciate.

Fuck all the rest. I want it back so bad but got so tired of watching people who did not care and took for granted the great things we enjoy. The simple things. Loving life etc. Bunch of spoiled brats. Now its changed. Now we can all go through it together and remember why it was great to see a blue sky not crowded with germs. Let us rejoice.

Rocket engines burning fuel so fast
Up into the night sky they blast
Through the universe the engines whine
Could it be the end of man and time?
Back on earth the flame of life burns low
Everywhere is misery and woe
Pollution kills the air, the land, the sea
Man prepares to meet his destiny, yeah

You said it Ozzy

Airline traffic is dropping by a noticeable amount at my location. My ADS-B setup is picking up about a third less aircraft per day.

It's now down to half the number of aircraft per day from the pre-outbreak levels. It only took nine days to go from the regular average down to half and the numbers are decreasing daily.

Wait, there are flights at airports near where you live? I take it you do not live in Seattle, Los Angeles, Miami, New York coastal city with heavy Asian influence?

That blows me away. Are only some parts of the world locked down? Am I wrong to think its everywhere? Or do you live in some far out of the way location like New Zealand that is just starting to dip their toes into this panic pandemic and is not quite knee deep in this shit yet?

Ok this is entering the conspiracy territory, but this is apparently the former Ceo of Vodafone ( ,Checked his voice on multiple videos and interviews he's done, it's very, very close to Nicholas Jonathan Read voice. )

speaking out about the coronavirus and 5G

For a comparison with France then :

I'm on the East Coast of the US. Those aircraft numbers include all planes (not just commercial), helicopters, balloons, etc that are within range (out to around 150-200 miles).

From the menu on the left, select Tracking Map. Map works best in Chrome:

Does it look like there's a lockdown? This is at 2AM:

edit:. Just the commercial flights on https://www.flightradar24.com/

Wow fuck me LOL

it would seem we are all seeing things from different perspectives here. I know for sure Seattle, LA, Miami and New York have ZERO flights because these are all places I have been in the last 6 months and moved from one to another but I won't reveal that information here because the neg rate assholes will use it against me later.

Amazing. I wonder if flights outbound from Austin Texas are all a huge go. Jesus that is some crazy shit. So it would seem some are much more locked down then others. Trump is talking mad shit daily about how "he does not plan to release us from this lockdown." I guess he is mainly addressing New York? He always acts like he is talking to the world.

Wow wtf. Well if the total world isn't on total lockdown then what is the need for $2 trillion? Big party and everyone is invited?

That probably has something to do with 5G being rolled out in more populated urban areas, the same areas where China AIDS spreads to more people.

How about because people get more out of the structure (rituals, mythology) than out of the vague mush that is "spiritual but not religious"? You can try to make your own ritual/mythology, too, but it feels empty and silly. The age of old religion is exactly what gives it its power.

Edit: Apologies if this came across as a bit hostile.

How fucking autisic are you? Telecoms only put those shiny new 5G towers in dense population centers. They like making money. Of course there aren't in towers or large clusters of cases in the french version of the cornbelt.

Alaska Airlines AS145 from Seattle to Fairbanks, Alaska just took off 15 minutes ago. American AA1314 from LAX to Miami just took off. Southwest SWA1425 from LAX to Austin just landed.

I'm not sure where you got the idea that air travel is shut down, because the planes are still flying. No idea if they've got anyone other than crew.on them, but they're definitely up in the air and the crews are possibly spreading the virus.

I know airline tickets are still being sold online but people are stopped at the airport and told to turn around.

Why would airlines be flying with skeleton crews? Why would they be wasting fuel? Maybe people are somehow getting special permission to get on planes with like "a note from my doctor I was tested and am well and have an emergency."

Still, where I am no one has seen a plane in the sky for a week and a half. Not even a prop. Not even a Cessna. Except for daily occasional jet flybys low level and they reroute back over their tail track a few times in a row going in circles as though a war is going on and they are doing reconnaissance or dropping a payload or some shit.

That is the weirdest shit ever. Alaska, American, Southwest. All passenger flights. Nothing commercial. Wtf

You're being fed bad info from whoever is giving it to you. Seattle for example:

SEA-TAC
Monday, March 30
  • Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is open and operational.

I have heard of 15 people in the last 10 days some barely acquainted trying to get flights out and not being able to get in the airport. Also have not heard a plane in the sky for quite some time. Seen any. None of that. Around here it is flying never existed. Aside from the low level jet flights.

No idea who is in any of those planes. They must be very necessary passengers. Whatever the fuck that means. I know no airport in the country right is loading up on passengers just filling the planes. I even knew someone who wanted to fly out to see a dying relative and they told him "no flights are going from here to there for quite some time."

So anyway is there a point to closing most businesses to stop a virus spread and promote social distancing and allowing planes to fly?

Am I crazy?
