Ohio has updated its numbers for today. They are still struggling to get any number of tests out. 2900 confirmed cases, over 800 of which are hospitalized. Still no widespread public testing, and the only word on the new antibody testing is that it will be used in a limited capacity to test already known negative cases to see if they had it before.

I dont understand, DeWine has done a good job on almost everything else, but he keeps dropping the ball on testing. If the 100,000 possible cases was true, and the R0 is still around 4, that would leave nearly 2 million people in the state infected, and weve found a whopping 2900 of them. He went on about how he is going to help mobilize manufacturing in the state to get PPE made in larger quantities, but no word on testing.

He's getting pissed about businesses and people ignoring the shelter orders, but still cant show us where the infections are. At some point this is going to boil over.

He was one of the first governors to do that, and as a result of following their advice and the facilitation of federal help, the infection rate in California nearly flatlined. Newsom had the good sense to shut the fuck up and just do his job instead of playing politics, and it worked.

He pulled in every single state asset that he could find, he started recruiting retired civilian and military medical personnel, he took in anyone who was able to volunteer for non-medical duties so that the medical staff could get freed up, and he went nuts on finding locations for military 'field hospitals.'

New York, on the other hand, just danced around like brain-dead idiots and kept encouraging people to go out and party in Chinatown (And I mean that they literally did that) and took every opportunity to ignore every piece of advice that the Federal government was offering them until their infection rate just exploded.

For once, California actually didn't fuck something up. I was shocked because I would have bet my last dollar that California was going to be the Ground Zero for this outbreak in the U.S., but something managed to scare the shit out of Newsom and he got to work.

Will need to see if he can properly tard wrangle the fags in the Bay Area. In fact, that place is just crawling with infection vectors.

Which is why this is funny. He told the banks that he couldnt pay, and while his mortgage is on hold, the other loans are not, and they've told him that if he misses a payment they can take away the interest rates that were given to him, basically the additional interest on payments will push him into the red, since he lives paycheck to paycheck. He's already int he red thanks to the lack of OT and now we are going at least another month of no OT.

I can hear him pucker from here. His rants will be apocalyptic when we finally get back to work. (I mean, I feel him, loosing our OT has equated to a ~60% pay cut for many of us, but few are so poorly off financially as this guy is). He's also a fatass who eats north of 4000 calories a day, has uncontrolled type 2 diabetes, and eats out for every meal, which has now been kneecapped. It's been amazing to watch. It's like having my own personal DSP.

I personally do not believe this pandemic will end low budget travel. May to September is the tourist season in the West. People will go crazy with cabin fear in the coming months, they'll get fed up with quarantine and want to go on vacation in the summer to stretch out their arms and legs, and there is no way the government will be able to keep them indoors. Too many cities around the world have come to depend on tourism for that to happen. The government bailed out the airlines before and they will do so again.

This video actually perfectly illustrates my point. I think most people out there have a "save the ship" attitude because they want something to return to when things go back to normal. Same with their airliners. Too many countries and cities have come to depend on tourism generated by cheap charters for that to be discontinued.
