to clarify flipland's case further, flipland has natural geographic barriers that basically stops the spreading of the wuflu. 7500+ islands country!!
(pic is the spread of the wuflu by geography, levels are adjusted by 20 times to show the regions affected)
based on the geographic spread alone, it is easy to conclude the hardest hit areas are the tourist hot spots, central business districts and regions of residence of the usual workers in the central business districts.

except context matters.
doctors and nurses deal with sick people the whole day. if you leave your place once a week at 3am to get groceries from an empty supermarket a mask does zilch.
and yes, when everybody scrambles to get mask because OMG THEY SAY SO ON TV!!! the people that need them the most - doctors and nurses - suffer the most until fabrication and shipping has ramped up to fill the shortage. and even then it's questionable if the demand can be met when everyone wants masks.

A lot of people may be infected without knowing it, though. There are a large amount of asymptomatic cases, and a large amount of mild symptom cases. Doctors aren't going to have somebody come to the hospital with mild-to-zero symptoms and have them contaminate others/overcrowd the hospitals just for a test, too.

So yes, wearing a mask no matter what helps.

I get it, people shouldn't have panicked-purchased the medical masks, especially if they are in self-quarantine and rarely going out anyway. Doctors and nurses need the medical masks a lot more than everyone else does ...

... But Dr. Fauci should have just been saying that from the beginning. He's had countless opportunities to do as such, yet he pushes the false narrative that most people don't need the masks. If this virus is as invisible as everyone says, then yes, people DO need the masks. Preventative measures are what's going to help everyone out in the long run, even if it's a crappy homemade mask made from a scarf or a paper towel.

Until the United States can figure out this "COVID-19 antibody test" that's being worked on to figure out who is immune, the masks are totally necessary for as many people as possible.

De Blasio and the MTA are now telling everyone to wear masks or cover their mouths with a scarf or bandana. We knew it was BS masks don't help but I agree, Fauci should have said medical personnel need PPE urgently. There's plenty of blame to go around and some of it should fall on stores allowing chinks to literally buy pallets of masks to send back to China. By early February masks of any kind were difficult to find, anywhere,

Yeah, that probably wasn't the smartest thing to do right now. Great going, 3M, I'm sure that getting all of the countries of the world into a bidding war over these supplies won't piss anybody off, especially no one in America. Oh wait it did.

Judge for yourselves:

This video is weeks old. It also gives viewers a false impression of what's happening in Mexico, by showing only one place in only one city, the capital, as if nobody was really concerned, however, many other places in the city that are usually bustling are now deserted, and other streets just don't have as much activity as they used to, which has a negative impact on small businesses, of which there are too many (which is one of the reasons why the president encouraged people to go out and support those businesses early on, instead of enforcing a quarantine immediately: he had to choose between letting millions of informal workers starve to death and scare the entire population into panic buying, or allow those workers to keep their source of income until a full lockdown is the only option). And that's not to mention the stricter measures that some states (generally, the ones with the most cases and deaths) have been taking, and people's reactions in the rest of the country.
Of course, as in any other country, there are people that still don't take it seriously or even believe it's all a hoax, but that's plain old ignorance, not on the goverment, since they've been promoting proper preventive measures for quite a while. Also, a lot has changed since that video was uploaded. Most importantly, measures are being taken, vulnerable citizens are (supposedly) being supported financially, and a plan has been put into action since January.

Despite not being in full lockdown, there's a huge campaign to persuade people to stay at home and stop all "non-essential activities".

And yes, the government's response hasn't been ideal, and I wish they acted more like this is a life-and-death situation or did something to educate ignorant people so that they'd listen, to prevent as many cases as possible when the pandemic inevitably worsens here, but it's far from being the inactive and naive government that mainstream media makes it out to be.

3M was really asking for it at that point. Guess those old boomers running their corporate board didnt get the memo that failing to be suitably loyal to the country is not being tolerated right now. Dont worry though, it looks like homeland security will hand the memo over in person.

I think at this point if Trump just nuked China most people, those who weren't CHINESE SPIES, would understand so long as he timed it so the monstrous plume of fallout didn't nail Taiwan or Japan. And even if it did Taiwan and Japan have pretty good fall out shelter infrastructure and they could just self-quarantine for a month or so until the radiation levels fell back to the newly revised safe level.

Sometimes it's easier to rip the plaster off in one go than to try to peel it slowly.

the masks most people talk about, like surgical masks, hardly protect you at all, they are to protect others. for your protection you'd need a respirator, not a piece of cloth in front of your face, which is pretty redundant if you keep your distance, and that's only if people don't sneeze/coof into their elbows or block droplets in general - they simply won't reach you.
and if the virus truly is airborne most people even with a respirator are fucked since most only filter the droplets, not smaller particles.

point is masks make sense depending on your use case, knowing how to use and wear them, knowing what they actually do and only in combination with other measures. instead masks are quickly becoming this month's testing kits.

And Trump was even nice enough to provide limited cover today when he said that some companies sold to foreign buyers because they "already had deals made." Anything after preexisting deals should be hammered with the fist of God.

I have a question guys about your personal experience: do you start to feel like outcasts because of not wearing masks in public? Or you are wearing masks all the time?

Nigga I give no fucks about what people think.

If I wanna go out looking like a plague doctor cuz it makes me feel safer I'm going out dressed up as a plague doctor. If anyone doesn't like it they can suck my ass.

If we ever get Rods from God off the fucking ground (pun not intended) I vote we use China as a testing ground for them

Yeah, the country and people who educated these people, supported the universities where they got their degrees, the health system that has performed roto-rooters on their colons and arteries ...the tax payer who pays for the roads that they travel on to get to work and to deliver their products ...

What a bunch of dicks.

Wow, very cool. As infections continue to increase in New Zealand, something that never would have happened if Jacinda Ardern wasn't a brunette Karen who refused to stop letting infected people in until the very last minute, the pigs are now threatening to impose a curfew so that real New Zealanders can't even exercise outside normal business hours.
It's almost like they don't care about normal people who are still managing to do a job despite Ardern's best efforts and letting in maximum foreigners was their only value all along.

Radio Sport has been shut down. I assume this is because, given the dearth of sport to cover, they would have had to run talk shows and callers will increasingly talk about how it's really weird that everything good has to be taken away just so that useless horse-faced cunt in Wellington can keep bringing in Chinks to prop up urban property prices and boost the property bubble.

But all is well! Urbanite trash are putting out ratty teddy bears in their backyards to spread cheer! How about have a family to spend time with, you useless wasters?

If you don't know whether you've been infected or not, then isn't it best to cover your mouth with something when you're out in public to prevent the spread of it? Sounds pretty effective as preventative measures to me! Lots of people are carrying the virus without the knowledge that they've come into contact with someone who has it. Just making the default "wear some kind of mask when you're out of the house" seems to be a smart thing to do.

Cloth does not work as well as the medical masks. However, if you wear them in public while practicing social distancing, then cloth masks work more than well enough (as cloth masks have been proven to shorten the distance of a cough or a sneeze significantly). Dr. Fauci should be saying this stuff, so that people are more inclined to make their own masks rather than hoard-buy the medical masks that should be going to hospitals. I find it funny that after Dr. Fauci made his media rounds as recently as yesterday expousing this vague and inconsistent rhetoric about the masks, the CDC is announcing today that they're going to tell people to wear masks now. Mixed signals, much? Fauci should have just told people to make due with what they have until there are enough for both the hospitals and the rest of us from the get-go. Getting this message from the CDC right now just seems really silly after all of Fauci's media stops this week.

Because when shit started to hit the fan, Gavin Newsom surprised every single person in the country by speed-dialing the White House and asking for their advice on how to handle the outbreak. He was one of the first governors to do that, and as a result of following their advice and the facilitation of federal help, the infection rate in California nearly flatlined. Newsom had the good sense to shut the fuck up and just do his job instead of playing politics, and it worked.

View attachment 1212844

He pulled in every single state asset that he could find, he started recruiting retired civilian and military medical personnel, he took in anyone who was able to volunteer for non-medical duties so that the medical staff could get freed up, and he went nuts on finding locations for military 'field hospitals.'

New York, on the other hand, just danced around like brain-dead idiots and kept encouraging people to go out and party in Chinatown (And I mean that they literally did that) and took every opportunity to ignore every piece of advice that the Federal government was offering them until their infection rate just exploded.

For once, California actually didn't fuck something up. I was shocked because I would have bet my last dollar that California was going to be the Ground Zero for this outbreak in the U.S., but something managed to scare the shit out of Newsom and he got to work.
New York was the 'preventing this virus from spreading would be racist' state and you can see how that played out for them.

So according to historical data in 1918 there was about 103 million Americans. Spanish flu killed about 500K of them which amounts to 0.5% of the population. Hm... It looks like our waifu is on her way to kick the Spanish thot in her ass.

This was a good day: I got my supply of organic chicken. And I've read this heart-warming news: golden parachute for Adam Newman got cancelled!

Lovely!

I've really been thinking about how antithetical a pandemic is to the human existence. No hugging or touching people, no going places with more than 10 people gathered, staying shut inside your house, staying six feet away from people, having to disinfect everything you touch...

We're a social species and we crave interaction with people and being active. We crave stimulation and purpose. I'm an extreme introvert and even I really miss going to the bookstore or out to eat. But I still go out to my job three days a week so I'm not going stir-crazy like a lot of people are who don't have anything to do. Thank God for Netflix and Youtube to keep people entertained or I think rioting would have broken out by now.

Why do you think I am on here so much? You guys and your different opinions and experiences are like a portal to the outside world.

Being an introvert doesn't mean that you don't crave social interactions. It simply means that you aren't about to set your hair on fire, just for conversation's sake.

The Navy ship is useless. But its the USN so we already knew.
“If I’m blunt about it, it’s a joke,” Michael Dowling, the head of New York’s Northwell Health hospital system, told the Times. "Everyone can say, ‘Thank you for putting up these wonderful places and opening up these cavernous halls.’ But we’re in a crisis here, we’re in a battlefield.” Among the roadblocks is that the Navy is refusing to treat people with a host of other medical conditions besides COVID-19, the Times reported. Also, ambulances can’t take patients directly to the ship, they must first be taken to a city hospital for evaluation, including a test for the virus, and then picked up again and brought to the vessel
What the fuck are you even doing here then? Samaritan's Purse is doing a better job and they don't even have 1/100th of the resources the Navy does.
