This is the day I stopped believing Cuomo at his press conferences. He says today that crime is down, but

I think there are a lot more young and healthy people dying than expected and the curve is not going to flatten in NY as much as they thought. There will be a lot more deaths, he's going to have to lengthen social distancing/shutdown measures and increase lockdowns and travel restrictions. I think right now he's regrouping and deciding how best to roll this out. i expect an announcement this week. He may try to let us get through Easter, so a week from tommorow at the outside.

NYC so far has been plummeting down into worst case scenario levels. They're not flattening it nearly enough. They're not getting down Miss Corona's Wild Ride yet. I fully expect their numbers to plunge into apocaliptic levels before this is over.

I've noticed that New Yorkers seem to be proud of the fact that their home city is basically a giant, over-crowded rat-infested toilet. Not being able to walk down the street without getting mugged, accosted or beaten is an endearing thing to them.

BCG is the TB vaccine that leaves a scar on your arm, right?

If BCG is effective against coronavirus, and I'm not completely convinced at this point that it is, you'd have to change the vaccination pattern. E.g. immunize people every 15 years from the age of 50. So at 50, 65, 80, 95. There's a paper here which reckons that "We found that countries without universal policies of BCG vaccination (Italy, Nederland, USA) have been more severely affected compared to countries with universal and long-standing BCG policies. Countries that have a late start of universal BCG policy (Iran, 1984) had high mortality, consistent with the idea that BCG protects the vaccinated elderly population. "

People in the UK had the BCG vaccine at school for 10 to 14 year-olds until 2005. Unfortunately, it seems like it only gives 15 years of protection. So the last batch of people vaccinated in 2005 should just have lost protection against TB now, though this might not mean they've lost protection from coronavirus.

Scotland‘s Chief Medical Office has been formally warned by police after breaking the fucking lockdown to go up to her holiday home for the weekend. Context: today is the first actually nice sunny day most of Scotland has seen since about last September.

The fucking CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER broke the lockdown to do the exact thing she has been on TV threatening us all not to do for weeks.

Why so pissed? Because my holiday home is in the same fucking place as hers. Weeks ago now, I discussed with family/friends whether I should pick up the tots and the puppy and decamp to the seaside for the summer early. We spend their summers running wild on the beach, eating chips and generally enjoying life. The advice of all persons who were NHS connected was that the CMO HER PERSONAL SELF was shitting it and wouldn’t send her family away to the second home. The village is tiny and the ability of the NHS there to support the summer tourists is limited.

I followed this advice because this is what sensible people do, right? Follow the expert advice?

Imagine my stress sighs when I see the photos of her and her family on the beach this weekend whilst I am in fucking lockdown with three bairns and a big dug bouncing off the fucking walls, and no prospect of any beach summer for us this year.

Well, the response of the Scottish people to the CMO herself deciding “fuck the lockdown” has been predictable. All my my kith and kin are reporting that the lockdown is being fully disobeyed everywhere. The parks are absolutely jumping, the supermarkets are sold out of suncream, and the kids are out playing together in the streets same as ever.
