(some women voluntarily elect to get a c-section to avoid vaginal tearing for cosmetic reasons)
There is no way that a highly visible abdominal operation scar is going to be more visually appealing than vaginal tearing (that only a few people will ever see). Best case scenario is that you'll have a white scar line visible for the rest of your life. Worst case is that unpredictable scar tissue can cause deformations in the area that cause your body to "overhang" the scar, and you don't even have to get fat for that to happen.

That was my bad, I misspoke and oversimplified.

Basically c-sections have been on the rise pretty much around the world because on average the physicians who perform them get paid more and the procedure being faster by a wide margin compared to waiting around for 10+ hours until a baby pops out is appealing to hospitals and clinics that are already short-staffed or overtaxed, and despite it having more complications than a vaginal birth physicians with an incentive to perform the. have been up-selling c-sections as The Modern Way to have a baby, so it’s not been uncommon for me to see some people refer to c-sections as an option for a woman to give birth so as to not “ruin” her vagina. Hell, I’ve seen that talking point a couple times on the Farms.

In that case if her doctors were advising against a C-section they must have had some serious concerns.

I know some women who've have them but it was kinda required in those cases (ones baby was like 11 fucking pounds so there was no way vaginal delivery was gonna happen). It definitely sounds like something people should try to avoid if they can tho.

Seriously why the fuck was she insisting on C-section for a fucked up inside out baby.

I'd think that maybe, because the brain was on the outside, it would be rather difficult to pass through the birth canal without, um, ripping the brain right off the skull? Who knows, maybe a compassionate doctor advised against it to facilitate a 'natural' "oopsie" that would save that poor infant from any further suffering.

I think it might’ve also been because of how c-sections have a higher chance of complications for the mother, as well as further complications for later births ranging from uterine ruptures to miscarriage. Considering there was no way to save a fetus whose organs are outside of its body, it just doesn’t make any sense from the doctor’s perspective to put a mother at a greater danger and complicate all of her potential future pregnancies just to perform a procedure that’s not going to do shit in the end.

That seems to be what her doctors were telling her, but she didn’t want to hear it.

Yeah, given that she blames her completely FUBAR baby dying on not being born in a "life affirming" state instead of, you know, having its organs on the outside of its body I wouldn't be surprised if she was expecting Jesus to make it live if the doctors did xyz. So she blames them for not immediately following her demands because they're totally evil baby killers instead of professionals that wanted to cause the least amount of harm.

There are definitely people hellbent on making babies die in the most horrific ways possible, but it sure as fuck isn't the people having abortions especially in this case.

I think the poster up thread who said that women choose c-sections to avoid tearing and pelvic floor damage for cosmetic reasons misspoke. Of course no woman chooses a c-section because she’s scared of fucking up her genitals’ appearance. But the consequences of serious tearing can be severe and lifelong - think prolapses and incontinence that can’t even be adequately repaired surgically.

(Or if you’re really unlucky, you’re promised a surgical fix and that goes horribly wrong -https://www.bmj.com/company/newsroom/investigation-exposes-vaginal-mesh-scandal-that-has-left-thousands-of-women-irreversibly-harmed/)

C sections scars are almost never “highly visible” though. Most are performed below where underwear sits. Unless you’re unlucky and have issues with wound healing/scar tissue formation.

There's no dignity in dying with your organs growing on the outside either. And there is especially no dignity in forcing people (including very young kids) to look at dead fetuses, as some fundies love to do, and I hope this woman didn't force anybody to look at her horrifically deformed dead newborn.

I am MOTI. Another case of idiot parents playing the goddamn genetic lottery.

They had one. Told it was a 25% chance at least. Then had another. Fuckers.

Yet another parent who films their disabled child on the toilet. Is this even allowed on Youtube?

While c-sections are life saving and necessary in many cases I can tell you many women want c-sections because they fear giving birth naturally.

A extended family member worked in a OBGyN office in a rather upscale zip code for 15 years and said they had a massive problem with women demanding scheduled c-sections for absolutely no medical reason. In the U.K. it was called ”to posh to push”.

It got to the point one doctor in the practice took a hard line and tell patients he would only perform c-sections when medically necessary (breech, distress)....which was uncommon because c-sections rake in more money and are more convenient for doctors. He lost patients as a result, but had better overall outcomes.

Demanding a non-medically necessary c-section is idiotic but it’s usually born or fear with maybe a small helping of “it’s going to mess up my vagina.” Talk to any woman who has given birth naturally and had a c-section and they will tell you natural birth is always preferable if possible. You will be feeling exhausted but otherwise good within hours or minute of giving birth naturally, a c-section will leave you in pain and in bed for a week or two.

The fear of damaging their vagina is stupid because unless you have 10 kids things do go back into place just fine, it was designed for the purpose after all. However having a c-section cuts through abdominal wall muscles which leaves many women with far less intense or problems with orgasms afterwards. This happened to a friend of mine after a c-section years ago, and she was pissed she was never warned about it.

When I hear about women with incontinence or prolapse I just think their doctor really fucked up because that’s not normal and should not be considered as such. It’s just bad OBGYN or postpartum care (or something went very wrong during delivery). The dramatic increase in obesity among pregnant women, and women having babies at older ages, has caused a lot more complications that you didn’t have in the past too.

Of course almost all morbidly obese mothers get c-section because their body can’t handle the stress of normal exercise, much less birth. You should be at a normal BMI if you plan on having a baby to avoid unnecessary risks and complications. (The HAES ppl get so pissed about this medical reality.)

Hey guess what? I AM one of those women and the c section recovery was a walk in the park compared to the horror show that was recovering from a third degree tear. I would have ten c sections over one birth through the intended exit. So... I know what I’m talking about, trust me.

Edit: please don’t powerlevel the shit out of me, I kept things as brief and factual as I could.

this simply isn't true. There are women who had an easier time with a c-section for whatever reason, and there are women who don't strongly prefer one or the other.

A few things here- the abdominal muscles aren't cut in a c/section. the surgeon spreads the fibers of the abdominal muscles apart with their fingers and keep them apart with a retractor, and most women have a degree of abdominal muscle separation simply from being pregnant. The other layers of fascia are cut through, but not muscles. It sounds like your friend had some nerve damage, which can happen with any type of childbirth.

As far as things going back to how they were: the vagina isn't the main thing that changes upon vaginal birth, it is the muscles of the pelvic floor. The vagina does usually return to normal, but that doesn't prevent incontinence or sexual dysfunction or prolapse.

pelvic floor.gif
this is a view of the pelvic floor from the top of a patient, looking down, with their spine at the bottom. the muscles of the pelvic floor act like a sling that hold all the pelvic organs together, and you can see that there are 3 tubes that pass through it (the urethra, vagina, and anus). A baby's head passing through the middle ring of the pelvic floor changes the shape of these muscles, the damage done to the pelvic floor is not usually detectable until much later in life (unless it is severe initially). You can tear up your pelvic floor muscles without experiencing any vaginal or rectal tearing during birth. Kegels can help to some extent but they can't ever put things back how they were. From what I recall only about a quarter of first time mothers get through vaginal childbirth without serious damage to the pelvic floor muscles.

When I hear about women with incontinence or prolapse I just think their doctor really fucked up because that’s not normal and should not be considered as such. Use of forceps increases the risk of the pelvic floor tearing I described earlier, but the majority of assisted births use vaccuum devices on the baby's skull instead of forceps and have for quite some time. the only sure way to prevent future incontinence or prolapse is to have an elective c-section. there is no care an OBGYN can provide that overcomes the obstacles of the pelvic floor muscles being changed dramatically by vaginal child birth. The majority of cases of incontinence and prolapse emerge after menopause, and vaginal birth is the largest risk factor.

“If a baby is to die, why are some hell-bent in making that death as heinous and horrific as possible?”

Hm, yes why IS that? Do you have any ideas why someone would want to keep a doomed potato alive just so it can have a painful death later, Sarah?

I don't think so. There are thorough records of women having crazy problems with these issues all throughout history. Birth is often difficult and complicated even when all of the factors look good at the outset.

This is a theory I could buy.

If Jesus wanted it it would just happen though. He wouldn't be depending on some dumb doctors because he's, you know, Jesus and shit.
