That's likely for the best. I think he and the captain both should have been tossed out. There were many better ways the captain could have handled that, but at the same time, he shouldn't have been put in that position to begin with. The best course of action the Navy could have taken in my opinion would have been to summon a special council with key leaders in the pentagon and medical experts, and include the captain in on the conversation, while also immediately informing the president.
Everything that I've read has said that the ship was at port, getting put into a skeleton crew, and having ill crew helicoptered out. Those things were happening before the leak. So for the life of me, I cannot understand what situation the "captain was put in". Especially when the information coming out was that it was that people were testing positive for it and not needing hospitalization. This might have changed by now but it was't the case when the captain went full retard.

If UK and Japan unite, once they're done with China they are invading the USA too. No, not because of the war of independence or the nukes. Because they threw the tea in the harbor. I mean. Who does that? Those were some perfectly good leafs ready to be turned into delicious beverage. Inexcusable! But don't worry burgerlanders, us spaniards will stand with you. We know coffee is the superior beverage anyway.
Spaniards? You're cool. Besides, the UK and Japan already got slapped by Uncle Sam before :D

This is disturbing: In NYC people are dying at home, likely from coronavirus but are not being included in the death count because they weren't tested.

A loon got arrested for planting the gay flag at the Samaritan's Purse tent hospital because if they don't embrace butt sex then they can't save lives on his watch.

Also someone has a repo full of stats for NYC in case anyone cares: https://github.com/nychealth/coronavirus-data

Shitstain New York doctor Peter Brian Bach (5 October 1964), @peterbachmd on Twitter, is seriously calling for alcohol to be banned for the period of home isolation.
With the economy tanking and families locked together because of stay-at-home orders to combat the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, domestic violence rates appear to be soaring. This requires an urgent response: States should immediately order the closures of liquor stores. They can reopen when home isolation is no longer needed.
OR... women could stop nagging.
Bach's wife died of cancer. Good. She deserved it.

Bach even acknowledges that people would end up on ventilators directly as a result of his insane suggestion of temporary (yeah, sure buddy, temporary) prohibition.

He has an apartment in New York at 133 West 22nd Street, and another place at 1333 Sagg Rd in Sag Harbor in the Hamptons. Nice of this rich piece of shit to tell the poors that they can't even have a speck of normality during the home isolation.

Never let a crisis go to waste..

Micheal Moore thinks Trump did Coronavirus.

The usual suspects are blaming Trump. The NYC comptroller cried to CNN Trump killed his mother, who died of coronavirus that spread in NYC after his fellow Democrats exhorted everyone to go out and party in Chinatown for Lunar New Year. It's revealing none of them mention China or their deceptive behavior that unleashed a pandemic upon the world. Nope, it's all Trump's fault some old lady died after eating too much gefilte fish. Someone get that lady that's been to the Hague this new evidence of Trump's crimes against humanity.

As soon as I heard what the acting SecNav said to the crew, I knew he was a goner. The proper thing to do would have been to tell the crew things will be fixed as fast possible, and we apologize for taking so long. You are there to pump the crew up, not chew them out. Stupid fucker.

Far as the captain's relief, expected that to happen later than it did. Knew that was going to happen. The captain did, too. He put his crew ahead of his career. In this case, his values didn't align with the Navy's values. But all the events need to be looked at. There have been multiple failures in this entire thing.

Last couple of Saturdays I've had a brief chat with the garrison commander, an Army colonel (Navy captain) while at the commissary. Have been impressed by his energy and leadership. Told him he should be getting a star. The colonel told me he was retiring in early 2021. Told me his two-star said, "When the Army's values no longer align with your values, it's time to leave." The Army will be worse off for seeing this man retire.

I'm glad I retired when I did. It wasn't the same branch of service I joined, much less the branch of service it was ten years prior.

The captain didn't go full retard. Have you ever commanded troops? I have, just not as many as that captain. He didn't take this action lightly. There are things the captain knew that we don't know. If this was wartime, as the captain said, you suck it up and get it done. But this is peacetime. No need to let your crew get sick and perhaps lose some. Takes a long time and costs a lot of money to initially train a nuclear power specialist, or a fighter pilot, and even longer to get them fully operational, for example. In wartime, if you lose that pilot or that nuclear power specialist, that's sad, but that's part of war. No need to unnecessarily lose anyone in peacetime.

I was passed this document by Dr. Farid Jalali. It contains yet another hypothesis of what COVID-19 is actually doing:

His hypothesis is one of, essentially, systemic vasculitis being caused by this virus. It makes perfect sense. ACE2 receptors are found in the lining of blood vessels.

How life turns around. Here I was in January very entertained, seeing how the Chinese were on a lockdown and thinking how such thing would never get to my city. Now the world economy is fucked, my plans are off limits, many infected with a death rate higher than 10% where I live, on lockdown, and the Chinese now are acting like nothing happened. This is infuriating.
Eh the next time China creates a virus they won't be able to spread it past their borders so we'll have fun watching then. Take heart.
