He's melting down on Twitter and making everything worse. He had a chance to walk away, and he almost did that yesterday, then he deleted his non-apology, doubled down, and announced more stuff. He went right back to business as usual.

God, I've been waiting to see this go down for months. I know this guy lives with his bible thumper mom in a townhouse they share. She has more than one kid and I think they left the coop some time ago. Last I checked LB Jr may not even be driving yet or at least doesn't have reliable transportation; maybe not even a real job to claim either. Anyway his little comic books have been the only thing sustaining his brand and they're not even drawn by him. Must suck to suck.

Lol, I've lurked this shit for years without joining (the Jazz Jennings thread is my afternoon tea read). You can readily find these things yourself y'know. His full address is out there for the world, it's the address his mother lives at, and his FB isn't private. It's under Kenneth Bright Jr.

Oof. Man. FSE had an opportunity to handle this with grace. Vic was pretty gentle in his request not to be used to promote anything not yet funded/ready overall, and their general support for Vic up until now had generated so much good will with ISWV types as a whole that they could have walked everything back and then walked it off (without directly using Vic's name anymore, since they already got the initial PR boost from it) until they successfully made something. Instead, they're burning all that good will up entirely and cratering themselves.

And also, yeah, pulling back the curtain and confirming to people not normally paying attention that it's just one dude, not a small company.

Damn I feel bad for those who backed it. most of us thought it was just a small indie company that was working on a ip but it turned out it's just one guy pimping out work from 6 years ago? It's understandable if your production hit developmental hell but he's promising movies, video games, 100+ episodes in 8 seasons? The "big" Donor was only sending like 100 a month, I wonder if he actually contacted Netflix. It's funny if FS talked about buying dubbing rights to Dragon Ball after the funi leaks broke out, I'd rather just keep Dragon Ball at funi because fs wouldn't even make 1 episode if all they get from 6 years is profiting off of vic when he had no idea the thing even existed. Eat shit Kenneth.

Lemme just say again. It's a sad statement that one crazy dude trapped in vaporware hell for 7 years recognized the marketability that came from aligning themselves with ISWV and/or Vic while all the actual little companies are apparently still lost in delusions thinking that if they just suck off Sabat long enough, surely he'll let them horn in on his business.

How sad is it when a weird little furry who can't even get his projects off the ground reads the anime market better than you do? Imagine how much money you'd make if you were actually competent at producing things - and even managed to complete something enough to get Vic's actual endorsement. Imagine if you had an actual product to offer anime fans and you didn't call them all incel losers.

He likely did “pitch” it to Netflix, by sending them an email and they probably gave a polite reply email and he took it as “in serious discussions”.

The guy just believed his own BS and the timing was perfect.

I dunno. From Vic's statements, he wasn't blowing FSE off at all. They haven't spoken in 7 years until he just recently learned what they were doing and told them to quit. 7 years ago, evidently, Vic really was interested in the project. Enough that he was willing to voice a character line for a trailer, even. But then nothing came of it and he probably forgot, because that'd be around the time Vic got the part of Rin Matsuoka - which, conveniently? is the last time this kickvic kind of nonsense got stirred up.
