They also might not have cars so they don't even have the option of just going to a big box Wal-Mart type store and buying a whole month of shit at once.
One of my best friends lives in a densely populated city. She has a car. However, she's told me that she's had to walk to the grocery store every single time because parking in the city is just that terrible. So yeah, even people who fortunately have cars still have trouble driving around in the city and are pretty much forced to walk around.
It's really no wonder that cities in general have been hit the hardest with this. I'm not surprised by anything I've seen or read on the news over the past two weeks. Doesn't make the state of things any less sad or scary, though.
