SO,

Turns out our friend here lives in Washington.
At least according to this article Mallorie was interviewed in.
Moved from Seattle to Redmond *fairly* recently.

There is exactly one Dick Blick Art Supplies store near either Seattle or Redmond.
And it's this one.

In case you think it was called Dick Art as a bad joke, Blick used to be called Dick Blick.

It's hard to take the "I used to steal art supplies as a teenager" seriously when the comic's art store is thinly disguised as a real, local franchise in your immediate location and you likely moved to the Pacific NW after trooning out to escape your 'dumb regressive southern' family. It seems even crazier that you'd steal art supplies as an adult now living off of free internet money; at that point you're doing to to feel something. The vast majority of Jess' art is digital anyways, not scanned sketchbooks so it's probably a cheap thrill. It's to be expected of someone with poor impulse control I suppose, as fetishistic as wearing women's clothes in public. If it's no longer exciting to wander the lingerie section as a dude, petty theft and evading loss prevention is the next best rush.

Jess is known for self-inserting and autobiographical content in their comics, I don't know what they expected. Maybe they're sick of getting away with it and just wanted to broadcast how they've been getting away with it. Maybe they're getting off on the negative attention and finally getting the real troon experience online, since nobody interacted with them before.

Personally I'm not that shocked or disgusted that Jess steals pens, petty theft is petty but goddamn is it hilarious to broadcast HEY I STEAL PENS, ISN'T THIS NORMAL AND RELATABLE MY AUDIENCE? WAIT WHAT, WHY ARE YOU ALL MAD. They're so unaware of themselves it's gotta be on the spectrum. If your webcomic is autobiographical, it's supposed to be uplifting, or overcoming obstacles, or at least funny. It's fascinating to see Jess continue to share their inner demons with complete tone-deafness and refusing to read the room. I never thought anybody could be as fucking stupid as Tim Buckley's legendary Loss comic, but Jess is gunning for a hat trick apparently.

Imaging going viral twice in three months for being an unlikeable asshole, and still not leveraging that into a real windfall or longterm success.

Pay retail workers more.

They don't get paid nearly enough to put up with shit from people like Jess and the fact that she acknowledges this in the comic is fucking maddening.

And since these kind of low grade sociopaths are not generally as smart as they think they are, it's a matter of whether you confront some asshole blatantly stealing shit, and they possibly pull a knife on you or some other bullshit, or just suck it up. You're generally not getting paid enough for that but it's another stress in an already low paid and shitty job. Because most people don't like thieves and would rather not be put to the choice.

genuinely wanna know how jess would react if she got CAUGHT stealing
something tells me she wont have that smug of an aura

also if any of ya are or will be working in retail at any point round her area, keep an eye out for her. mostly for ur own job's safety, but also if ya have anything interesting to share abt her shenanigans out in the wild id love to hear it

I think we all agree she would try to defuse the situation and never come back due to shame, right?

No fucking way. She would deny it, wait until someone said something with her gender, like "she's stealing", stay put, get back home- after all, no cop would touch her due to fear of being sued by transphobia- and then draw a comic in which the S from the original sentence does not exist and the true crime of the moment was misgendering her, not fucking up with someone else's job.

If it happens, mark my words.

I want to point out that the initial problem in the comic was art block. Not a lack of supplies, money, or capitalism/a bad store. She stole because of art block.

But Goose! You're criticising her too! Doesn't that make you a transphobic dickhead attacking a vulnerable artist?

Goose is being sarcastic, you dumbass.

Also, given that Jess has a compromised immune system and everybody's on lockdown, we don't have to worry about her trying to shoplift anytime soon.

I guarantee this really happened, and Jess only wrote a comic about it because he's so diluted and in such an echo chamber that he thought everyone would be on his side because capitalism bad, Stalin good.

Sorry dude (:_(my bad.
I assumed that tweet was genuine too, partly because they accused Oney of going after "another artist" when it's the same one and twitter 'Allies' are just that dumb, and because Oney responded with the bikestick reference. Sarcastic or not, it works either way and really riles you up, top bait IMO

4chains has a strong interest again:

alternative: she DOES get in trouble for stealing, nothing is prob done as usual tho except maybe she has to pay for the shit because lets be honest that kinda shit is never not overlooked, then she goes home and either writes a comic abt how keeeewl she is "and i get away with it B)", or she rants on twitter how this gave her ptsd and made several of her mental and medical disorder flare up again and everyone on twitter, pewdiepie and new guy himself are to blame
