Not going to lie, I had to check this out for myself because I couldn't believe this wasn't a shop or a parody account.

They didn't vet them because they don't care. The mere fact that the affidavits exist are what they use to say it's real, and the defamation in them is being used to say 'I testified in court x thing' because ISWV berated everyone involved for months before then that their stories meant nothing when they hadn't sworn to them. But it swings both ways. Chuck Huber's affidavit doesn't do anything except drag Funimation through the mud, but aside from ONE line in it that they love to tout, they desperately want that thrown out too. All they care about is the ability to say "We have 16 affidavits and you have 0, this proves that the numbers and the people are on our side, which proves the facts are on our side, you lose."

He can't exactly say "Yeah, Ron's awful" when he's now an affiant for the defense. The fact that he's willing to go so far as to say "Just shut the fuck up" is arguably somewhat significant for how much Ron's irritating him. Which is, again, hilarious when Emmett is the very picture of someone who jumped in blowing hot air just to get people to pay attention to him.

Also, by Emmett's own testimony, he saw Vic yank on a girl's hair and whisper in her ear like a cartoon snake, and spent years with Orion's Envy building up a relationship and even a romance with the girls based around how creepy and awful Vic was to them and still thought Vic was a super cool guy.

I thought they were "broken" from the beginning, since their first statements really didn't sound very sincere and it didn't even take much to make them feral like beasts.
My guess is that they're only now showing their true selves, since they're so arrogant thinking they've won thanks to the Chuppening and there's absolutely no way Vic can get 'em, but like said already many times, we shall see and enjoy the show it'll ensue. :semperfidelis:

They really might not even need to depose him anyway. Just put him on the stand at trial. He's already on the record as not remembering anything at all, so if he does anything but say he doesn't remember, they can confront him with the fact that he's already said he doesn't remember anything. If he didn't remember a couple years ago, right after the events in question, he certainly hasn't magically grown back his brain.
