It's ironic that Alex labels his critics (or gremlins in his mind) as having a "sadistic desire to abuse and mistreat others" when we've all fucking witnessed the way he treats his underage fans that he deems as annoying or beneath him.

The real question is why it took him six years in the first place. It couldn't have been that hard to code. We can only guess, but I think that he had something far more extravagant in mind and settled for this when, after six years, he learned that he couldn't code whatever he had initially hoped for. Either that or he spent six years waitng for assets from "volunteers".

It literally is a few animations, which he stated a few days prior that he finally got someone to do them for him. Code everyone standing still, add a couple of dumb things like teleporting or that stupid filter, and voilá: You just made an evening's progress on your game and you pulled it off as a 6 year fucking job. As Tim and Eric put it: "Good Job!"

Alex has been a lot more active in terms of game builds recently for some reason. I would say it's because Corona is forcing him to stay at home and he now has nothing else to do, but that can't be right because we all know he never leaves his house in the first place.
Most likely, the people who are actually programming the game and making the assets have more free time.

He wants his game to be taken seriously, yet he so unapologetically adds in naturally silly and memey easter eggs in such unsubtle ways... I know he's senseless but he doesn't see the clear problem here?

He's probably trying to play the Silent Hill angle of 'serious game with dumb easter eggs'. Which is weird cause the natural angle with the dumb faux-Japanese names, the completely ridiculous character designs and concepts (like the final rival being a basically perfect superbeing) would lend themselves to a wholly irreverent tone.

Seems the Patreon money dropping like flies got Alex to work as hard as he ever before. Apparently the game can run at a pretty good framerate thanks to the volunteer:

No wonder the game is running faster, Everybody in the comments is talking about how a lot of the NPCs aren't showing up. The ones who do get NPCs say that there's a "bug" where they all have massive tits. Alex doesn't seem to realize that he can't just rely on engine upgrades to compensate for his shitty code.

Did it really take him this long to upgrade engines from some crusty version of Unity 2017? Jesus christ

He called the dress "cheongasm" instead of "cheongsam". Is he stupid or just juvenile? You decide.

Also, this grass is just glorious. Imagine making cartoonish lawns look fake in a cartoonish game. And due to transparency issues, trees look like they're floating in the air.

The game looked shite in any case but this....This looks fucking hideous, the dress completely fucks with the proportions of the model as well. I know it's well documented that Alex did nothing but use unity assets but it looks worse than i've seen in previous builds.

So many people are trying to download this update that the direct download links on his website keep timing out after transferring less than 100MB. MEGA to the rescue.

I did a very brief comparison to the February 1st build, which is the latest that I happened to have downloaded. Here are my brief thoughts on the Unity 2019 build of April 10:
  • Performance has indeed improved, noticeably. I didn't check each classroom and area in the school to see if every NPC that is supposed to be there is indeed there, but every member of the student body that spawns on the pathway to the school was present. I also didn't notice any NPCs with massive tits; the range seemed normal.
  • Instead of seeing FPS hovering around the lower 30s while in the presence of most of the student body, it was not uncommon to see FPS ranges averaging in the higher 40s to lower 50s. Achieving 60 FPS in normal gameplay no longer requires running to the corner of the school and staring at a wall, and I even saw values above 60 FPS. I didn't look at or record the CPU usage charts to double check, but I feel the game is now less CPU-intensive than prior versions.
  • That said, RAM usage has increased between the two versions. The Unity 2019 build used roughly 500MB more RAM than the February build.
  • Loading times have essentially been cut in half. The new build took 24 seconds to load the school environment, while the older build took 53 seconds. Well done, and I'm not being sarcastic.
The bad:
  • The new "select your resolution and graphical settings in game" option does not save your preferences between sessions, meaning every time you start the game you have to re-select your correct resolution unless you like 720p.
  • This screen does not have FPS capped, meaning as soon as you launch the game it immediately starts raping your GPU and making it scream for mercy. This screen does not need to be redrawn 3,500 times per second.

With those lame graphics, the game should be running similarly to CS:GO on mid-tier hardware. Oh wait, all that bad code makes the CPU and GPU sweat and that never happens. While that increase about +35%-40% is impressive I guess, it's still only thanks to the Unity engine improving from year to year. Clean up your spaghetti, optimize character models, etc. and that +35%-40% could even be +350%-400%.

Had to check the comments to make sure this wasn't a joke. Holy fuck, how did he manage to screw up that badly?!

This is Alex we're talking about. If he can fuck something up then he will in the most mind numbing way.

The only interesting thing is that different people are reporting various problems and if the game wasn't so shit and one of those things that should only be tested on a virtual machine then it probably would be interesting to look into how/why this build is for certain people even though they're using the same build.

Considering this is Alex, these might not have been bugs to begin with tbh

Yeah...I definitely would've noticed any of those bugs, guess I'm just lucky, or unlucky depending on your point of view. The only bugs I've seen thus far when just briefly glancing through everything is after you start a random mission the camera tries to sink through the floor for a couple seconds before snapping back to normal, and when you press keys during loading screens Windows thinks the game has stopped responding and asks if you want to force it to quit.

He is YandereDev. All incompetence is possible through him!
Fair. I'm just shocked he didn't notice this before putting the build out.

I wouldn't be surprised if Alex does essentially no quality control testing outside of what he himself sees on his computer, so for any bug that he doesn't see during his personal testing he relies on the community to see and report it. It's likely the case that on his specific machine, these bugs never manifested (as is the case for me as well) but once this update was released to the very wide pool of machines in use it became obvious there's a many problems somewhere.
