Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

or Funi is broke and told them its that or they are fired.
Likely a proper recording setup, out of pocket costs more than they make in several months as well.

The fact that before now they had to rely on Funimation equipment, go to offices, and work at set times, and roles says more employee than contracter. Otherwise like Vic, they’d have all this already.

Funimation has messed up priorities when they won't financially facilitate the dubbing of their premier product, but will spend over $200,000 on a lawsuit they could've easily avoided. Their customers are paying $5.99 or $7.99 a month for content that isn't being dubbed because they are too cheap to lend their VAs some equipment.

All they had to do was comply with the TDMA letter, either remove the tweets, or clarify that they didn’t mean Vic was fired because of sexual harassment and assault.

That would have saved them over 200k.

Looks like more skulls gonna roll.
I guess an expose video on Sushi.
The video is up, if I have time I will add a TL;DR later.
I have to watch it first.

So it turns out that the Kiwi simping for Sushi in DA Talks' video is Yuusha-sama. An attempt was made to redact all the names, but you can tell that this screen shot of her profile was taken by Yuusha-sama because our German's avatar is displayed in the Write Something... portion. (There's also a little red arrow pointing at Yuusha-sama)

Please don't pretend like you don't know what DA is doing. You even posted the thumbnail to his video before it was released.

Yeah, it was me and I don't really care if people know that, since I gave the archive to a few specific people without redaction.
I just didn't want every sped on youtube seeing my handle.
I don't have a problem to reach out to people and ask questions about specific events.
I don't do any gay ops, I tell them that I'm a kiwi and I want to know specific things about a event.
And if you guys give us a few days time I can explain the entire backstory and what we found.
Since it is enough to get a own thread.

Just be upfront about it next time because it's really obvious that something is amiss when one of the big bads is excited about some guy on YouTube with less pull than the Comic Book Hut.
Sure, but I didn't want spoil stuff he would talk about.
I just wanted a bit more awareness.
I will be more upfront next time, since I got nothing hide.
Ah, that reminds me I should add a TL;DR to my post.

Criticize that guy all you want, but criticizing someone on his view count is kinda weird since he made his first video a month ago and only did 10 vids.
How long is hut doing vids?
One year maybe two.
I understand all your other criticism, but that one is weird.
Edit:
Sorry for the double post, I saw he made an edit I wanted to respond to, and forgot to just edit my first post.

Figures foresight is a foreign concept to Funimation in every possible way. Can we please have ADV and Manga Entertainment back?
How about Geneon and Bandai? At least there was some level of professionalism there.

That's a great point. How the fuck can you not afford proper equipment for your voice actors to record remotely, yet you're willing to spend over $200K on an avoidable lawsuit? Not even World Championship Wrestling was this incompetent.

I don't see anyone talk about this but this pretty much has been the norm for big companies that can easily afford it but don't. Employees are expendable and if they aren't willing to pay for their own needs, then just hire someone else who will. Or just delay the dub for a month.

Though the whole lawsuit portion is ridiculous to not settle. They made an awful tweet and should aim for the lowest cost option which would have been settling immediately which is cheaper than the legal fee costs. Especially when you have a goddamn mountain of skeletons in your closet you shouldn't want your higher ups to find out or pay attention to. But hey we are the best case scenario for Kiwis as this lawsuit has went on the single path of the most entertainment. Basically that secret true route with a whole bunch of hard to get requirements. I want to see this ride make it to the end in all its glory of sheer stupidity.

But they're not going to settle. If they didn't settle back in October, they're not going to settle today. They may not even settle in the future. They should've settled last April before most of their dirty laundry was publicly aired.

Settling is not the same as losing: it essentially means that you and the opposing party have ended this lawsuit through a mutual agreement. It doesn't mean you win, but it doesn't mean you lose either. What's the risk of Funimation, Monica, Ron and Jamie settling? Vic and them resolve this matter and they can go on propagandizing whatever bullshit they feed to their customers without consequence. What could they lose? Worst case scenario, they lose thousands of dollars and some people get fired. That's nothing compared to how much they have lost so far.

But look what's happened to them. Vic may have lost the TCPA and a few roles and cons in the industry, but Funimation lost a lot more: money, fans, subscribers, their image and their credibility in the eyes of many. Sabat, Tatum, Rial, Marchi, Rager, Martin et al can't make a tweet without being ridiculed by the opposing side. Rial and Marchi's lines are nearly nonexistent and anyone associated with them have lost tons of fans as well. Rial and Ron are hundreds in thousands of dollars in debt. And at the risk of bringing politics into play, Funimation is now roundly hated by many Republicans, Libertarians and Moderates who are not suckered in by their garbage.

If Funi decided to settle now, it may ended the lawsuit but it won't erase the damages they inflicted on themselves. They buttered their bread; they can sleep in it. And don't be surprised if there's a few voice actors in the company and somewhere in California and Canada who are secretly rooting for Vic to win and gloating in Funimation's misfortunes.

So, a few days ago, Sabat posted a tweet about Broly while the online broly watch party with other voice actors was going on (w/o Vic, of course. It's not like he's the star of the movie or anything...). Some ISWV speds thought the tweet was a dig at Vic, although I personally don't think so. Seems more like a dig at the character Broly to me.

Dom seems to think it's a dig. Chris didn't interact with her tweet, though.

A bunch of angry ISWV speds found their way into Sabat's mentions, but not a whole lot. The anti Vic tweets responding to them also got a whole lot more likes than them at first, now it seems to have evened itself out. Anyway, although Chris didn't name Vic in the original tweet and there were only a few angry ISWV comments, Chris decided to respond to one which didn't even attack Chris directly.

I just think it's funny these people keep entertaining the "chuds". Chris could've gotten away by just ignoring every mention of Vic, but nope. He had to add fuel to the fire.

A family dog is smarter than a multi-million dollar anime distribution company. You know why? Because when a dog makes a mistake and is disciplined, it eventually learns from its mistake. Funimation never has and apparently never will.

He'll probably get more comfortable the less likely a round 2 is to happen.

More drama incoming.

Prediction:
A fake expose on emosh?
I'm interested in what he got, I hope he got more than his Crack Queen.
Because she claimed that a sped from weeb wars(Exile1994) has cp on his pc, kinda weird that she hasn't reported it.
Or showed any evidence supporting her claim.
