They even stuck bodies in a room used for sleep studies. Why is one person on the chair instead of laying them across the bed the other way?

And why the bed and not the floor? Are they going to test sleep apnea people on that bed when the plague is done?

It's bad, but not quite as bad as CNN makes it sound. That's from a week or so ago, when the hospital was most overwhelmed, and things are somewhat calmer now. From the article:

Over the past several days, according to the workers, the case load has dropped significantly to about 50 patients, which they say is a more manageable number.

Dollar is cheap, Euros are expensive.

Jamón Serrano, those semi-dry salchichas, slightly tangy quesos, etc. Far more expensive and specialized than the Oscar Meyer and Kraft stuff that 999/1000 Americans consume. And even if they did develop a taste for it, it is too expensive.

ANYTHING EUROPEAN is barely affordable.

Sorry friends. Maybe in a place like New York City (the fuck do I know) stuff is cheaper due to demand, but everywhere else, anything European is as expensive as hell.

In light of a possible emerging meat shortage in the States, somebody posted that Spanish imports could probably compensate if it weren't for EU-imposed trade restrictions.

And I (and apparently you) are saying, that that is not the only barrier. One being affordability for Americans.

Because he is. Remember he wanted to reopen by Easter and was brushing this off like everyone else until early march. What was really needed from the start was a coordinated federal response, instead we have had an ad-hoc effort across the country and nepotism on his 'economy' team.

He just said he wants to open the country 'ahead of schedule'. Which is fucking insanely optimistic at best and fucking retarded at worst. It's not a good idea to rush opening anything right now. Tbh we should remain as locked down as possible until the end of may, then start opening early in June to minimize the chances of a really really nasty second wave.

And the economy would be hurt even more if we were still working through this. 2 million people was the projection without measures, and the current projections below 100k were assuming shutdowns through May, and everyone doing it. Meanwhile Florida is thinking of reopening schools, a bunch of states are starting up their own plans to reopen.

I mean yes a long economic shutdown is bad for him politically, but what's the lives of millions worth compared to four more years is what I'm hearing for you. The fact is that this would be so, so much worse long term without the shutdowns and the fact that it hasn't been as bad as people were projecting is because of the shutdowns. It's a damn fucking awful exchange to make. Lives should not be sacrificed to the short term gain of the economy.

Correct. In Minnesota, the majority of Twitter comments after Walz announced extending his emergency powers were berating him. He tweeted about traffic deaths being up while traffic itself is down, got berated. He tweeted about a restaurant burning down in a town (likely insurance fraud due to his lockdown), got berated. The Democrats are setting us up for economic disaster and the people are seeing the lockdowns for what they are.

THIS. Seems like the ONLY one who cares about us is President Trump. He is the ONLY one who doesn't seem to be on a fucking power trip re the ChiCom Flu. In contrast to many of these useless scumbags from the governor level on down to the city/town level, Trump has actually signed the front of more than a few paychecks. He knows how badly many workers and small businesspeople are doing without their normal work/business. Impression I have is President Trump walks a fine line between getting people back to work and protecting people's health. In our county half the time the county medical director, who has shoved this house arrest up our asses, won't even answer questions about what's going on, much less when the house arrest can be lifted.

The anger and frustration are building. Pushback, in various forms, has already started. The ONLY one who seems to be on OUR side is Trump. All the rest seem to consider us no more than animals, whom they can treat any way they please. Fuck that and fuck them.

When "they" say, "we're all in it together", I laugh. As always, it's "us" versus "them". "They" have guaranteed paychecks. "They" do as they please. "They" don't believe they need to answer to anyone. But we have President Trump in our corner. He knows one size doesn't fit all, when you are talking house arrests. Believe he can do a lot to influence the states in rationalizing house arrests and lifting them whenever possible.

A lot of that is due to the EU and US both having heavy tariff walls and protectionist barriers though. Get rid of those and it's not too bad. In the EU Spanish stuff isn't that expensive though groceries in the EU are noticeably pricier than they are in the US. Then again, how much of your monthly spending goes on chorizo sausage? I love that shit and the supermarket I buy it from isn't the cheapest but even I don't spend enough that I worry about what it costs. I mean it's going to cost a bit more than US/South American produced stuff, but it's going to taste a hell of a lot better.

Anyhow it's not about Spanish meat. It's about a whole range of stuff that should be traded freely across OECD countries but right now is not because the EU and US are rivalrous.

On a different subject, had eye exam, ordered new glasses four weeks ago. Was told glasses would be here in 2-3 weeks. No glasses. No call. No card/note. Went by. Place has been closed since 18 March due to the ChiCom Flu. Sucks, but present glasses still work well.
