Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

its roughly a 10% kill rate if you're infected, the problem is people are claiming you only get tested if its bad enough for you to need to be tested and its a sub >1% rate if you include everyone that ever had it. but the numbers as they stand show that basically if you're over 50 its a 1 in 5 shot of dying from getting it. and if you're over 70 its about 1 in 4. and if you don't die from it there is still the trauma from being put on a ventilator and brain damage and all sorts of other effects this has if you survive.

And we're going to see with Sweden what happens if you do follow through with the herd immunity, but right now it looks like a Logan's Run esque demolishing of the over 50 population. I know people are saying "fuck grandma" but in the white communities 50 is still mom age, not grandma age. and most everything is run by someone over 50. 15% of congress is under 50. and everyone over 50 dying means the western world ends up being as well run as your average college. the most conservative major city would be Portland Oregon. There would also be a shitload of orphans because white women seem to only have kids in their 40s nowadays.

yep, this virus is causing tons of despair and people are doing whatever to keep themselves happy. All the AA and NA and social worker groups are all canceled now too.

And its probably even harder to find good dealers. And its rather telling that people are bouncing off the walls, yet the earliest states are getting ready to open back up is two weeks from now

You're misinterpreting the data. 23.1% of deaths of people 45 - 60 making up total viral deaths and 24.6% of people 65 to 74 doesn't mean that one in five and one in four of people from those age groups will die. That's total of how many people of that age died from all victims.

You can see the death rates here and they'd be over exaggerated with how many people are infected but not tested.

The guy who discovered HIV / AIDS says that SARS-COV-2 is man made and was accidentally released from a lab in China.

How sad that Zerohedge would let a conspiracy nut like... Professor Luc Montagnir, 2008 Nobel Prize in Medicine... speak about something he obviously has no idea about.
Well, you SAY he is a nut ironically, but about that...

The guy is a supporter of homeopathy and the use of highly dilluted resources, and when he was criticized both for the subject of his research and the lack of peer review, he said that "the generally unfavorable response is due to the "non-understanding or misunderstanding of the breakthrough findings"". What was the idea of his research?

"The paper concludes that diluted DNA from pathogenic bacterial and viral species is able to emit specific radio waves" and that "these radio waves [are] associated with ‘nanostructures’ in the solution that might be able to recreate the pathogen".

His paper was published by a new journal that he just happened to be on the editorial board for. And when he presented his "findings" at the Lindau Noble Laureate Meeting in germany in 2010, he was mocked and ridiculed by other scientists and nobel prize winners for his reporting and lack of repeatable results. :lit:

He has also joined the anti-vaxxer movement and is using his position to push for long term anti-biotic usage on autistic children to heal them of their autism:

And, of course, he is proposing we can kill Coronavirus with electric "waves". :story:

Dude has gone fully off the goddamn deep end. Just because he discovered HIV 40 years ago doesnt make him a perfect expert, and like many others who once led their field, he is WAY past his prime and has been wrapped up in so much absurdity and bad science its impossible to take anything this guy says seriously. His claims that WuHan was working on a HIV vaccine using Coronavirus have absolutely no factual backing that I can find outside of his claim.

Consider this. Rather then Zerohedge having someone like Luc granting them legitimacy, it is far more likely that Luc being on Zerohedge has shattered whatever was left of his credibility that he hadnt already burned. This article is a great example of "person X is famous for doing Y and thus should be trusted on subjects other then Y"

You've GOT to be shitting me. I still see plenty of less-than-full shelves everywhere I go. These people at Bloomberg must be on drugs.

Where I am (Mid West), things seemed to be getting better last week for items like pasta, rice, beans and canned goods. Obvious stuff like disinfectants or sanitizer are still impossible to find and have been MIA since January. Today was like a huge step backward for dry and canned goods. Meat and dairy were still available but heavily picked over (especially butter). A lot of people got their TrumpBux on the 15th, so that probably accounts for some of it, but it still makes me uneasy. This shit also makes meal planning and budgeting near impossible because you have to scrap half of your list and improvise or you're often left with the larger sized versions of certain products as the only option. At least it isn't as apocalyptic as the late Feb/early March panic shopping.

I have two family members with chink aids and both are fairly old/other issues. They’re about to be released from the hospital because of that bitchin drug combo. Also, idk how this was kept out of the news, but in the city cars have been uhm exploding?

I’m guessing the potential news from it is being suppressed for terrorism reasons? I’d post more info but PL and all. Take it with a grain of salt, but shits getting wild in that area lol.

Is that hydroxychloroquine/azithromycin/zinc?

The Democrat governors are gonna have a lot of 'splainin to do when they used their powers to STOP people from getting cured by a cheap drug stack. That entire party, thanks to this virus, have turned into a bunch of Crassuses (TL;DR became richest man in Rome by purchasing real estate in literal fire sales... fires that he started).

Yes it is. Literally day two saw a huge improvement for both of them and now they’re basically good. Still going to stay at home for 14 days to be safe ( also rest up as it isn’t like it didn’t suck), but they’re going to be fine.

Shit like this is exactly why I never wanted a smartphone in the first place.
If it wasn't for needing both texting and mobile internet, I'd prefer a dumb phone. I'd love to get a new one when I switch carriers if I can find a phone that's reasonably priced and not laden with Google junk and other apps that I'll never use and can't uninstall. Stuff like forced tracking of users in the name of identifying/preventing COVID-19 infections only strengthens that desire.

The scarier part, however, is how many apps in general insist they need access to your location data -- especially ones that shouldn't need to know that information as part of its everyday use. Worse, they won't let you download critical/security updates unless you click the "Oh yes, I want you to spy on me for no apparent/legitimate reason" button -- nor can you uninstall them because they're part of the carrier's proprietary bundle.

How do people manage to not have an attack watching the news every morning?
Apart from the news that plays on the radio when I wake up, I've given up on watching the evening news for now because the bulk of it is doomer updates on COVID-19 with an added dose of TDS. Too much of that isn't good for anyone's well-being.

We NEED to open May 1st. Its getting to the point where Ive stopped caring all together. When I need something, I go out and get it without a second thought
Most people probably do at this point, but I imagine some are mindful enough to wear gloves/masks or otherwise take precautions to stay as safe as reasonable possible when taking care of whatever needs to be done.

That's why the 3 phase plan that's in the US right now is a pretty good middle ground, enough to see certain states start up again, but just enough time to cut off any out breaks.
My state legislature has proposed something similar with different tiers based on infection rates/numbers/etc. with the idea that various areas of the state could move between tiers as appropriate with restrictions easing or tightening based on whatever is happening in those areas. It's a good idea in theory, but politicians have a way to strangle good ideas into nothing.

I still see plenty of less-than-full shelves everywhere I go
It depends on the stores and how popular they are with shoppers, I'd suspect. My most recent trip to the drug store saw the paper product section picked cleaner than a field defoliated by locusts. Bottled water was still available, surprisingly, but the majority of it had already been bought up at that point in the day.

Still no Trumpbux. No idea why.
Trumpbux is being sent in waves. People with direct deposit information on file are being paid first from what I've gathered. Whether they are further grouping it by location, SSN, or some other criteria remains to be seen. Those without direct deposit data on file are getting checks mailed -- possibly after the direct deposit people get paid. I'm not surprised the tracking site seems to still have kinks because of how new it is and the fact most government sites aren't exactly known for their efficiency or helpfulness.

Absolutely. Could even see some recall attempts against certain governors, such as Michigan and North Carolina.
Michigan's Governor Whitmer being successfully recalled is :optimistic: at best. Sure, Michigan had a two-term Republican governor before her, narrowly voted for Trump in 2016, and narrowly kept Republicans in control of both the state house and senate in last year's gubernatorial race. However, the auto workers and teachers unions are a strong voting bloc that keeps the state voting mostly Democratic in statewide and national elections. Those unions would mobilize and come out in droves to stave off a recall drive if it ever were to come to a vote.

I'm not sure if I saw it online or in print, but there was a sensationalist headline about the dangers of taking hydroxychloroquine in large doses.

Pro Tip: Any drug in large doses can be harmful. This is why we have doctors and health care professionals who know what doses to administer to patients that should generally be safe for them.

As much as I hate using such language, I wish the news hacks would stay in their lane and lose the doomer rhetoric while the doctors and medical folks do their best to treat their COVID-19 patients.

I think I heard speculation on Sekulow that it's tiered in order of income lower to higher?

I'm glad to hear it.

I'd heard some studies that brought into question its effectiveness, but I guess if bad orange man promotes anything, the media will immediately try to discredit it.

I wonder how long before Ex-Mickey D's worker turn YouTube Star starts memory holding this video now that Trump said the virus may have been bioengineering. It be a shame if his video wasn't archived in time...

Also, before anyone asks? Yes, Trump said the same thing when asked from interviews about if said virus is man-made and he confirmed it himself that it may have come from Wuhan Labs. So I guess that makes him as crazy as Alex Jones going by Myles Power logic.

Also, Trump supports people who want to go outside without staying at home. So I guess left-wing media will think Trump is like Hitler x9000!

Due to the video file being too big for the Attach files on the forum. I added a link to where you can find said video to download it. The link will only last for 14 days so download while you can guys.

Gah! I made the mistake of looking at Facebook (I know I know, in my defense I was drunk) only to be inundated with virtue signaling psychotic head games from New York Liberal Family Members shrieking "For Shame! How dare you wish to leave your hovels! Don't you know how hard Nurses work! Here's one that even saw 4 dead bodies! If You Protest or demand to be let out you will be responsible for those 4 dead bodies. Think how their parents must feel" and similar insane drivel. You just want to scream back at these fools, "at least you have jobs! You know your mortgage will be met. You've put food on your table. "

Had one of my mates wearing the plague doctor mask on one of my last nights virtual parties as a gag. Now, talking about virtual parties, I'm interested if this is a thing elsewhere as well - had two calls scheduled myself, one of my mates actually had 3 at the same time. Is this the new normal? What software are people using for their virtual get-togethers? Skype, Zoom or something else?
