I‘ve got a chloe/UEA speculative theory. It has already been said that chloe being ‘expelled‘ (as she says) from her uni on mental health grounds is very unlikely, but there is one way this could be possible although calling it expulsion is pushing it. I consider it more likely than her being expelled for misconduct or the like (she does not strike me as the type at all), I’ve seen it happen to mental health malingering students, and it would mean that Chloe hadn’t outright lied about her uni experience, just significantly twisted the truth in order to victimise herself.
If a student takes an interruption of studies/IOS, it is often as a result of multiple missed coursework deadlines that would normally result in failure. There has to have been a reason behind the mess they’re in (
medical, financial and personal reasons are accepted at UEA) in order to have an IOS approved, which normally requires evidence (a doctor’s note is often enough). A student with multiple missed deadlines would be required to complete all the missing work before returning the following year. If that work has not been completed at the point of returning, the student is not allowed re-entry because they’ve already had their chance. It doesn’t matter what your ‘diagnosis’ is, if you haven’t been able to complete the outstanding assignments in the year long break that the uni allowed you, either you have disregarded a commitment you made to the university or you are simply too ill to be a student.
