"homophobia" gets thrown around a lot, but phil has an real irrational fear of "gay" things. Him awkwardly holding back his enjoyment of the dance sequence was hilarious
Strange Twitch hasn't cracked down on him for that yet, TriHex got a temp from calling his friend a fag but this flies under their radar for some reason.

This kind of stuff might ruffle feathers with his paypigs.
Edit: underlined the wrong one.

edit2: wtf is this rant

Holy shit, this rant.
Phil insists that this version of the Wall Market was actually not as bad as the original. I will say that most of the dialogue from the 'edgy' Don Corneo scene that Phil complained about was lifted, almost word for word, from the original. The scene otherwise plays out the same. When he said 'this was better than the original', I was confused at first.

Phil elaborated... and buckle up for this one... that the thing that he remembered that he was scared of was a scene where you go into a room and there were a bunch of 'muscular, oiled up dudes' who were 'nude or in speedos' (stop me if this sounds like Phil's preferred form of entertainment...) and there was an implied sexual encounter with Cloud. THAT is what scarred him.

He then tried to retcon this into his edgelord rant and it being about gay and trans representation, but the scene is pretty much the same tone otherwise. This is 100% about little piggy Phil sitting on his couch and feeling uncomfortable stirrings at fantasizing that the oily men did things to Cloud. I'm no longer saying it's speculation, Phil is absolutely in the closet.

I'll post a clip unless someone beats me to it, but it was right after Cloud ends up in the sewers. A full-on pause to explain and evaluate the scene.
Bonus: Phil identified Reeve as a 'new character'. Anyone who played the original knows that Reeve isn't new, but you don't find out much about him until after Midgar - which is where Phil originally claimed he played to. So further reinforcement he is lying about finishing the game as well.

EDIT: Sorry, another sub-point stood out where Phil complained about people finding it funny to have 'men be forced to act like women'. So this also feeds into his fixation on 'masculine' identifiers. And probably also highlights one of his issues with his latent homosexuality - he doesn't want to be made to act like the girl, dood.

Oh, man, you missed my favorite part of the rant.

That Final Fantasy was always family friendly before 7, and this 'anti-gay humor' was added to be edgy. Very short reminder of things that FF 6 (I remind you, Phils 'favorite') alone had: Mind-breaking torture, an octopus molesting women, stripping unconscious enemies naked, and the mass poisoning of a city.

What makes this rant even better is that, apart from the gay men scene Phil refers to (which is actually a back washing session.), the entire scene is shockingly positive about trans and gay folks in general. To the gym leader (Jules in this game) being a strong, respected trans woman, to Cloud's crossdressing reinvigorating a dress maker. Positivey fucking unheard of in the 90's.

He also dropped the tidbit that sexuality and non-normative genders never came up in Final Fantasy's after 7, and, off the top of my head, FF9 has Quina, a gender-nonbinary being. So, wrong again Piggy.

I knew this segment was going to be good, but holy shit, that rant was just the cherry on top.

The best thing is that the Honeybee Inn is completely optional in the original you have to go out of your way to get inside and see that scene.

I'll cut him some slack on the Reeve comment though as he might mean this is the first time he's shown up in this game and not a completely new character...i'm probably wrong but meh i'll play devils advocate for once.

My biggest beef there is that he (relatively recently) played FF5, wherein Faris cross-dressed, and where the discovery was played for laughs when Bartz and Galuf accidentally peep on her. How is that different? It's not really, but this is actually about the scene with the dudes and he's grandstanding about the cross-dressing.

Not to mention the fact that he credits this to 'Japanese humor' specifically, but then also 90's pop culture edgelord interests, which is pretty North American specific. British humor has played cross dressing for laughs forever, I guess they hit their edgelord phase with... Shakespeare? The whole thing is just so mired in ignorance and him desperately trying to bend this whole thing to fit his discomfort at a scene with men.

For the record, the scene he referenced did exist. But if I recall correctly, it was optional that you see by snooping around, and I never interpreted it as a 'gangbang' with Cloud like Phil subsequently implied it was.

Correct.

In fact, it was pretty god damn well hidden, so, no fucking way Phil saw it as a kid. (You have one chance, and are never told, to go to a random NPC, who gives you an item that gives you a 50/50 shot of getting that scene.) The game makes a brief reference to sex, but only in the most puerile 'Does that feel good?' before cutting to the bathing scene to show that nothing was happening. The gangbang interpretation started as a joke, possibly from dumb 90's americans not understanding the 'washing anothers back in public baths' being a 'thing' in Japan, that just spiraled out of control due to people repeating what they were told without context, and eventually, 'funny videos' like TFS makes.

Well I called it days ago, he was going to try and take some morale high ground and act like this scene is somehow disrespectful to gay and trans characters(in the same stream he apparently did his actual offensive gay voice). A few others have already described how nonsensical that is, he’s just a loser in the closet or desperately trying to hide his own homophobia and transphobia.

Only a faggot would make such a big deal out of this.
Since you support gay and trans people why are you so irritated by this, Phil? Dude, just play the game and STFU.
Why do you have to toxify everything?
Miserable cunt.
No you nudnik don’t you get it? He LOVES trans and gays, that’s why he hates this scene so much! It’s offensive to them!

I really gotta stress again how widely loved this scene is. You have to scour the most miserable corners of the internet to find people who genuinely don’t like this scene. Hell I didn’t even see any fake journalist try and make click bait articles taking shots at this part.

But then there’s this miserable cunt, proving once again why he’s one of the most unlikable douches on the Internet. He literally always has the worst takes when it comes to this dumb shit, it’s almost impressive.

Dave is so in the closet that is probably fucking with his mind for years.
By the way I saw a post on /v/ saying Panda told that her and Dave only had sex three times... Is that true?

Probably not.

Phil was for sure not into 'underwear time' and Leanna complained about not getting enough action but Dave put out thanks to her twisting his arm.

I really think he might be gay and he puts on this persona to try and make us think he's not. He almost never comments on if he thinks a girl is attractive. He's very neat (minus the cords in his office). He never fucked leanna (lol). No interest in sports. His mannerisms back when he first came on youtube made him come off as gay a lot.

He's probably not gay he's just some kinda weird low t asexual.

The man's got nothing going on either way. Just like how Phil doesnt understand (most things) humor I think he just straight up doesn't 'get' sex.

You can see this is how he goes through the motions of romance without any actual emotion. Whoa dood I'm married now ack ack I can't find other women attractive.

He doesn't throw up anything that gets the gaydar going. Its way more likely he's just asexual due to laziness and the fact his body's actively falling apart slowly.

That being said, he's homophobic in the sense he hates anything thats different from him. Same way he has a weird racism thing going on. He's untrustworthy of anything new to him.

Even if a guy is gay, they can still fuck women. I know a couple married men that came out yet were able to create children. My guess is Phil's narcissism makes him incapable of relationships and caring about a woman at all, beyond wanting a housemaid and for social acceptance.

it doesn't make any sense though. He had to have the social awareness that Leanna was way out of his league so why didn't he marry her or fuck her? Its actually funny DSP can pull girls that aren't whales.

It starts at 51:27 if the stamp doesn't work.

And for comparison, here is the (entirely optional) super uncomfortable 90's-edgy gay scene that grievously upset Phil.

Right before the stamp on the Phil video is the scene with Reeve. Upon listening to it again, the way he says "Reeeeeve. That's a new character", I really get the impression that he has no idea who he is/that he was in the original. It's not the type of 'new' that suggests that he knows it's the remake's introduction of a (tangentially) core cast member.
