Fat Acceptance Movement / Fat Girlcows

Ah, Sierra. See she's taken the coked-up chipmunk speech patterns down a notch, thankfully. See she's still trying to reinterpret the concept of health to excuse the fact she's piled on so much weight in the past 2 years though. The clip of herself in 2018 she shows briefly near the start really shows how fat she's become. She looks ten or more years older, not two. I wonder how many chins she'll add to her collection if she ever manages to achieve her goal of getting knocked up?

I stopped watching after the first few minutes because fucking hell, she's the most basic and dull of annoyances ever. Oh, you met your husband the wet lettuce on double dates at Disneyland? Thrilling. No Sierra, Disneyland is not 'romantic' ... it's a lot of things, but romantic is not one of them, you tacky 24 year-old bore.

Has there been any salt over this article in the "Paper of Record?" :optimistic:

Trigger Warning: Text below is formatted like shit, and I'm far too apathetic to fix this. Read the goddamn archive.

Nice pretzel logic in that article - throwing out CICO in favour of socio-eco-lifestyle factors....as if that not a nice way of saying poor people have bad diets:-
Conventional wisdom has traditionally explained excess weight as a simple caloric imbalance that can be addressed by eating less and exercising more. Prominent medical groups have reconsidered their approach, however, and now recognize obesity as a medical disorder caused by a complex web of underlying factors, which in turn predisposes people to other serious medical problems.
Some doctors consider obesity a marker of poor health associated with poverty, reflecting a combination of social and economic factors, from inadequate education and limited job opportunities to impoverished neighborhoods where access to healthy food, medical care and opportunities for exercise are scarce.
Seriously, are we at the point where a decent article citing scientific sources has to dance around the fact people are fat because they eat too much? Oh sorry, no. It the "limited job opportunities" that make people fat. Right.

Lipids is my favorite cow and I feel like these two things together really illustrate what the hell happened to make the monster we know and love. There are vestiges of an interesting person buried way down under the identities and the fat.
Studying pre-1500 English literature is pretty tough. She probably had to study middle and maybe even some old English for that degree and a lot of it isn’t easy to get through even in translation. She’s also a pretty decent photographer, but somewhere along the way she decided that she should live only for herself and stop caring about disappointing people. So she became a fat, selfish, angry navel-gazer stacking up oppressed identities.
There’s probably something else to say about how shitty college is to have spat out Kelly as an ostensibly educated person, and the irony that she doesn’t seem to care much about disappointing her husband, kids or normal people but she’s eager to virtue signal online for the approval of losers, but I don’t have an English literature degree.
I'm sorry but you're simply giving her too much credit. Any self-repecting English major attending a decent university has ample background and verse in Old/Middle English to study it. There's such a basic aspect to it that it doesn't take much to read manuscripts relatively easily. It's lit beyond that point, and the parsing of it, that gets much more complicated.

She’s making excuses for when she’s five years older and 150 pounds heavier. Sierra will be part of the next wave of obese online superstar fats when the current crop ages out and gets pushed aside.

I think her initial weight gain into what she called 'mid size' (as opposed to plus size, which she is now) occured at the precise point the BOPO stuff was gaining a lot of traction on social media and amongst the younger set who are her primary audience. So she had a nice niche to settle into to market herself and her channel. She couldn't compete with the similarly young, similarly vapid and annoying, but skinny fashion influencers, but could create her own niche which to be fair, seems to have been successful for her. Unfortunately ut has also created a money-rut for her to settle into (just like Anna O'Brien) and an ideology which she's probably swallowed whole at this point that prevents her from really getting healthy again.

Sierra talks about body positivity and health at 10:00
Regarding her av, what is this constant trend of fat girls posing with crowns or sashes like they won a pageant?

That stopped being original 15 years ago. And it doesn’t help your argument of “body image standards for women are fucked up!” if you then post a picture of yourself as “I can win a contest based on current body standards for women!” or “If only beauty standards for women were more realistic, people like me could win this degrading image-obsessed contest!”

For people who bitch about how horribly shallow beauty and body standards currently are, they sure love to get dolled up and take photos of themselves pretending to win beauty pageants.

Fatlip podcast is another one who deserves her own thread
Fat lip is pretty lulzy but just like all 'infinifats' she's terminally lazy, the podcast has no consistent schedule and even when she can be fucked to upload sometimes it's a rerun. So unless her other social media is exceptionally exceptional the thread would probably dry up fast

Since many cows have graduated to their own threads, here’s some new material:

Love the assumption that 'a smaller body' has no requirement for extra self compassion. That small body may have been - in no particular order, a practicing addict at some point, molested as a child, dumped by a spouse, have suffered any of the great many negative aspects of life. That poster & no doubt other BoPo types seem to confuse self compassion with self absorption.

That's what I was thinking. Shit happens that can make being in any body suffering. You could wake up tomorrow and get into an accident that leaves you forever doomed to piss your pants, oh well fuck you because you're not 600 lbs. You need more compassion for the things you can change than the things you can't, duh. The underlying tone is not even close to subtle.

I first thought that read "Extra self-compression."
