Trump Enslavement Syndrome - Orange man good. /r/The_Donald and any public demonstration of rabid pro-Trump enthusiasm in spite of all reason.

My grandparents like to say "God decides how much time we have on this Earth", which is basically code for "I don't have to worry about my health-God will let me live as long as I want because I'm a good Christian." Trumptards probably think that if all the social distancing and mask rules were lifted tomorrow, God would protect them from the virus while the dang dirty heathens get the coof and die.

Considering how many states have made exceptions for churches to meet during this time, you are not wrong.

I was just thinking that I have no idea why so many people on a lolcow-watching website love Trump so much. Because he is undoubtably a lolcow.
  • Never accepts criticism
  • Not only never accepts criticism, but freaks out and whines on TV and social media when he’s criticized
  • Demands that the people around him only praise him, surrounds himself with yes-men
  • Believes that any negative attention towards him is due to a vast conspiracy against him (in his case, Fake News and the Democrats), not because of his own shitty behavior
  • Openly engages in inappropriate and corrupt behavior and is shocked and upset when people call him out
  • Extremely thin-skinned, can’t handle being made fun of (see his war with SNL)
  • Completely out of touch with the lives and concerns of normal people (as much as people want to believe this billionaire champions the working class)
  • Has a habit of impulsively saying stupid shit his supporters have to make excuses for
  • Spends too much time on social media
Yeah, he’s probably the most successful lolcow ever, but a lolcow is still a lolcow. I really think a lot of people only like him because his embarrassing behavior pisses off the libs.

Because his supporters are also lolcows, just boring ones.

I will never stop laughing at all the Christians who think Trump is God’s Chosen. He is literally the farthest thing from a good Christian and the only thing he has in common with Jesus is that they both have XY chromosomes.

As a personal side note I love pictures of White Jesus because he was a Middle Eastern J.ew who probably looked like today’s Arabs, lol.

Yes, because Jesus would love a billionaire, he certainly didn't repeatedly say that it was nigh-impossible for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

Some just as lolcow worthy as the people we laugh at in this thread.

Why would wealth play any factor in that? What if one's wealth is used as an engine to generate good in the world?

Is it assumed one must commit sins to gather wealth?

I’m Catholic so I might be able to shed some light on this.

Basically, a lot of Jesus’s teachings and many schools of Christian theology (sans things like the Prosperity Gospel) sees material wealth as something that can easily rot your soul. If you’re obsessed with material possessions and only focus on getting money and increasing your wealth, you usually don’t have space in your heart for God. Because you’re too focused on this world and not the next. You’re too busy worshipping money to worship God. Jesus himself said excessive love and focus on wealth is intrinsically evil.

In the Gospels, Jesus reveres the poor as hardworking, modest, and faithful, unlike rich people who pay lip service to God and then go back to focusing on their fortunes. There is also a parable (Mark 12:41-44, Luke 21:1-4) about people making donations to temple: one is a poor widow, and the others are rich people. The rich people donate large sums of money to the temple while the widow only donates a few cents. Jesus says her donation is spiritually worth more than the rich people’s, because in her poverty she gave everything she had whereas the rich people are only giving from their surplus wealth.

Also, I wouldn’t go so far as to say all rich people are greedy and selfish, but it’s pretty obvious that greed and selfishness are common traits amongst the wealthy. Also, I’m order to obtain vast wealth, you usually have to step on and screw over a lot of other people (eliminating rivals, underpaying people, etc). Again, not saying that rich people are inherently bad, but the path to getting rich usually involves a lot of un-Christian behavior. I also hate to sound like a bitter armchair socialist but I would argue that most rich people do not use their wealth to improve the world for others, they only use it to improve their own lives. There are of course exceptions but that’s what they are, exceptions.

So to answer your question, yes, Christianity for the most part assumes that committing sins is part of getting rich. And that material wealth distracts people from God.

Probably because some people low-key enjoy their lolcows causing drama if I had to guess.

Trump pisses off the libs because he is incompetent and royally fucking up this country, which means the people who hate Democrats love him because they hate Democrats more than they care about this country. One side of my extended family is almost all Trumpers, and it's embarrassing the stuff they're sharing on FB right now. Like Bill Gates COVID vaccine conspiracies and shit like that. It's even dumber because my aunt is a die-hard Trumper and posting about hating the social distancing and wants the supreme court to overrule it, even though she's at a higher risk of dying due to cancer. And her three brothers are also at higher risk due to other complications (heart disease, stroke).

Oops, got cut off there. I was talking about when Trump was blaming video games for gun violence and some gamers I know were already making excuses for him. "Oh no, he didn't mean that! He was pressured by other Republicans". Trump is an anti-gaming boomer, stop being in denial.
The last thing the video game industry needs is more politics shoved into it.

The right to an abortion IS a constitutional right, so you're contradicting yourself there.

Also, she looks like Bane in that shot.

Most Trumptards only care about the 2nd amendment. They're happy to give up every other right they have, as long as they can have their guns. I think it's funny how pro-protest they are now, after bitching and moaning for so long about the left's protests.

They really think Trump whining in front of the press and only taking questions from people who lick his balls is something to be admired.

Last Week Tonight just did another segment on Coronavirus, this time examining how Fox News and Trump are stuck in an infinite feedback loop of repeating misinformation and jerking each other off:

Reminder that Fox News aired segments like this:

If Glorious Leader doesn't think something is a big deal and/or blames the liberals, of course Fox News has to step in line.

Trump is a con man and the biggest marks are his voters. I don't see how they see him lie to literally everyone, but he couldn't possibly lie to them. He's putting their lives at danger, and I don't even understand at this point why. If we reopen the country too quickly, more people will die and likely we will have to shut down again. How will that help his reelection? (honestly, even with all this shit I think there's a great chance he'll be reelected...just because the Dem's can't seem to provida a candidate that's anything but milquetoast).

The number of people I've personally seen that have both confederate flags and 'love it or leave it' bumper stickers is pretty fucking funny.
What's even more bizarre it's that people would fly it in Union states. If it's not a symbol of prejudice, why are you flying it where they were fighting against them?
I've heard people rationalize it by claiming that the Confederate States of America was fighting for the same values that the original American revolutionaries were. Never mind that their vice president explicitly repudiated the Founding Fathers' values in a speech made right before the fighting started.
