Who comes up with this stuff? I think being a grownup with a government job isn't nearly as challenging and awe-inspiring as high school guidance counselors would have us believe.
You have to ask yourself what sort of person takes a government job, and realize there is already something fundamentally wrong with them. If they were good at what they were doing, they would be doing it one floor down from where they currently work and make 2x as much at minimum. people get government jobs for the job security, retirement benefits, and absurdly good healthcare plans.
Also you have to realize A. the people working for government know they can't be fired and B. They are the exact opposite of orphans. Every person working in California government has about a dozen family members they're required to love and care about, which means at least one person over 65.
Essentially this is a de facto way of forcing the US federal government to feed all of California. (or at least cover 75% of the bill) We all know seniors aren't going to spend $66 a day on food, but a senior and their spouse and 7 grandkids and 3 kids. that's two large value meals each. Hell once this passes, i know at least 3 seniors i could mooch off of for this fucking money, and i'm sure everyone else in Cali has roughly that amount.
If Trump allows this shit, he's essentially setting up a feudal system where the non-Californians are the serfs working to feed the entire population of California. Trump might as well expand this nationwide, if he's going to feed 1/6th of the US population, might as well feed the rest of it.
Since this entire mess has started New York and New York City specifically has been the fiasco zone. Literally no other city in America is dealing with this shit, not even ones you would assume should be similar disaster zones like Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Washington DC and Boston.
Serious questions need to be asked here. But the media seems too intent on sucking Cuomos cock. Which also begs the question why everyone else in America needs to suffer because New York is run by incompetents
NYC has 2x the population density of the next largest city, and is #2 for total asians, the rest of the top 5 cities for them are all west coast based which means cars and houses and all sorts of de facto social distancing. So they would always get hit the hardest.
Also NYC has been the most obnoxious "my way or the highway, fuck the government" city since it was still owned by the Dutch. NYC turned on Rudy for actually playing ball and working with the rest of the country to fix ground zero. "america's mayor" was always an insult, essentially New Yorkers felt he turned his back on the city by letting others come in and help. NYC is like that rich kid that wants to be independent yet everything he does fails and his parents always bail him out even when he tells them not to.
De Blasio and Cuomo are acting exactly like every New Yorker not from Statan Island would handle this situation. If Guiliani and Pataki were in charge they would be deepthroating trump every night but also would be setting up accomodations for medical professionals from upstate to come down and help with staffing, plus there would be busses and shit so that other patients not stuck with the wuflu could be transfered upstate to these empty hospitals.
New Yorkers would rather die than let someone else handle the situation.
