This year has had a lot of bad games.

It's also had a lot of good games that fell short of their potential, like Resident Evil 3 and XCOM: Chimera Squad.

It's also had some goddamn fantastic ones though. Doom Eternal, Animal Crossing, Trials of Mana, Nioh 2, and so goddamn many indie and low-budget PC games that are fucking great. It sucks that TOLU2 is going to butt-fuck the franchise, but take heart: Every time something dies, something new can be born from the ashes. As we say in the old country, "this too, shall pass."

It's going to be happening for at least a couple more years. Just look at how many games trying to copy Destiny and The Division came out after those games fell flat.
