I watched a cam download of The Rise of Skywalker on New Year's eve with a few friends a few spliffs. It was pretty entertaining under those circumstances, but the number of people I talked to that actually paid to see that film was depressing. The fact that most openly acknowledged beforehand that they knew it would be shit, but 'it's the last one', and went anyway was even more depressing.
Pretty much every single Disney 'live action' (LOL) remake of their classic films did little more then shit on the originals and it didn't matter, they were always guaranteed to make a billion dollars at the box-office anyway.
Even notable failures like Battlefield 5 suffered more from the fact that it was attempting to get some of that already oversaturated 'Fortnite' market then it's so-jus nonsense.

Consoomers gonna consume, buy the product and then get excited for next product. I expect the game will do just fine but a few Youtubers will be able to buy a new shed for themselves out of the money they make from outrage clicks.

You know, I already made it clear Im one of the crowd that loved the first game and was legit excited for Part 2. I can understand WHY someone wouldnt like the first one and thats more than alright, as long its legit reasons and not something stupid. But my point is...I think its safe to say we all stand together to say that Part 2 is truly, undoubtably, one of the WORSE things I have ever witnessed. And its not just the horrific plot that shits on the original and its so subversive it makes Rian Roundhead Johnson blush...its the fact so many workers were used and abused to get this garbage product out. I dont like when employees are crunched, however, I say if the game turns out to be amazing, it was on some aspect, worth it. However, this is different, it wasnt just regular crunch, it was advanced crunch as I imagine even people that were working on it were horrified by the awful game they were being forced to work on. Im a blood redded capitalist, however, I do not wish for workers to be mistreated on any circunstance...this was bound to bite Cuckmann and ND in the ass sooner or fucking later and it did in the best way possible.

There is "Snape kills Dumbledore" where its spoiling dicks trying to get a cheap laughter out of legit fans just minding their own business...and there is this, where I think its not spoiling, but EXPOSING the truth to the world. Its not an act of dickery but of bravery and rebellion to stand up to ND and tell them to shove it where the sun doesnt shine.

If they wanted to tell a "revenge is bahd" story, fine, but do it properly...without converting your main characters from the first game into villains just so you can control other "lesser (at least to Cuckman's perspective)" villains. The Last of Us wasnt nihilistic, it simply said that the world is complicated and very messed up...but there are always good and beauty within that you gotta put effort to find and that no one is beyond going back from their darkest places. It felt good seeing Joel look happy again at the ending, despite his actions. It felt good seeing Tommy abandon his bandit ways and create a safe and free community for survivors to live again. It felt good seeing Ellie pet the giraffe and see there is still beauty in the world.

But where is the beauty in Part 2? There is only revenge, death, bleakness. Usually, revenge stories have this duality of forgiveness, hell, Abby could have come CLOSE to killing Joel but perhaps the journey until this point made her see that revenge wouldnt bring her peace but forgiving would. Abby could actually be a likable protagonist and we could have shared the game with her and Ellie...to show that both of them arent so different and that they are the villain of each other's story and tha maybe both of them arent beyond forgiving and letting go of their consuming hatred. That should have been the silver lining, the whole point of revenge is to show how MEANINGLESS it is, you can bring justice yes but revenge is purely on you.

But no, revenge is the best, lets kill everyone, we are monsters, there is no God, goodness, forgiveness, only death, gore and agony.

If Abby's body is supposed to be based off of her then they royally fucked up. Abby's shoulders and chest are unnaturally large compared to the rest of her body. There's a reason people are making Dick Splitem and Senator Armstrong jokes because she has their exact body type. This chick's body's proportions are a lot more natural-looking. She's muscular but it's not unnatural looking.

I’d argue that the TLoU leaks are worse in large part due to how this game was billed. It isn’t The Last of Us 2, it’s The Last of Us: Part 2. It’s meant to be continuous in character and theme. At least with the 7 remake you have the excuse of a more overtly absurd basic premise, and Nomura being a far better artist than writer.

yes and no. while it's easy to get the normie mainstream on board it's equally easy to lose them, and nothing's worse than indifference. sure, TROS still made a billion bucks, but no one wanted to see solo, no one wanted to clear the shelves in galaxy's edge and no one will bother with anything new disney shits out, unless it has some quality like the mandalorian. the carrot was the trilogy and the trilogy is over, while leaving a bad taste in people's mouth.

Sounds like it's even more exceptional than that. They want the troon (is Abby actually trans or are we just assuming it because that's clearly a dude's body caving in Ellie's skull) to be the protagonist. Why they believe anyone would want to play as the character who kills the beloved main character from the last is game is a mystery. Or are they so drunk on Woke Kool-Aid that they think no one really cares about Joel because he's a straight, masculine, white man?

Did anyone else notice that Dina takes an arrow through the shoulder there? Which is sticking a several inches out of the front of her shoulder, before being slammed a few inches back into it when she's slammed into the ground. Followed by a pool of blood spreading beneath her from the wound as the cutscene ends. Now, I don't know what other the spoilers say, as I've never been interested in playing these games and am just here because I'm curious about the shitstorm. But I'd say by all rights, that should be a fatal wound on Dina without quick, modern medical attention. Either from bleeding to death, or from the wound getting infected. So they either need some seriously contrived writing to keep her alive, or she dies post cutscene.

Ellie should also be in a bad way from all of this. Arms broken, face rearranged, likely concussed. If they cut forward and both are just fine after getting rampage'd in a setting where it's difficult to find any decent medical care then fuck off.

I don't think anyone out and out confirmed it. It seems as though everyone's assuming it given her bizarre body shape and ugly face. At the same time, her body is based on an actual female athlete (not well mind you but it's still based on an actual biological woman as far as I can tell).

I personally don't think so only because I haven't seen anything in the leaks that outright say Abby's trans. I could be wrong since I doubt the leaks have every single detail, but I'd rather see confirmation than make any guesses.

The Rise of Skywalker did not do well financially. Yes, in a complete vacuum it did well. But placed in context, it did horrendously. It was part three in a trilogy where each movie made significantly less money than the last. (and the drop off point happened specifically and exactly after the the opening week of TLJ with it's collapsing legs as people realized what the movie was) It also was hyped up to be not only the end of the trilogy, but "the end of all 9 movie Saga" as well. Huge marketing budget, and expectations. People were debating how much more than TLJ it would make. Not that it would fall well short of that movie as well.

Yet Society man movie unironically made more money than TRoS worldwide, and the movie made half of TFA. And so Star Wars is in worse and worse shape each new movie launched. It is a good example that it takes time to reach the general audience, but that you will eventually make many of them lose interest as well. "Make less and less money with each new movie!" isn't a good pitch for investors.

All of this is to say that I don't think TLOU 2 will be received well over time. Game of Thrones, Star Wars, Battlefield V etc.
