It's starting to look like a lot of the states, at least "flyover" states with competent (read: Republican) governors are all about to open up en mass next week. Combination of running out of money, people getting fed up, and the realization that if they open up before other states, they'll reap the benefits.
Wonder if the timing is such that Trump will get credit for the economic bounce-back that's coming. Or are they gonna intentionally hamper it with hopes that Biden ('s replacement) can take credit for it in 2021?

I'm increasingly thinking that Biden will not be the nominee. It might not even be the strangest political happening in the past few years. The Tara Reade situation needs to blow up more in the non-conservative media, though; another accuser would probably do it and you know if he did one he did a dozen. If it seems that there is a chance he won't be the nominee, then there's less reason why someone might not come forward. Look at Tara Reade's friend, who said she is a committed Democrat and Biden voter, but still backed the accusation.

This is why I want Trump to come out with a tweet like 'The "Crooked" DNC is getting nervous about Sleepy Joe Biden. They will probably try to replace him at the convention. But not with Bernie! They're going to cheat him again. RIGGED!'
If they replace him it would play right into his hands and give him fuel to antagonize the Bernie Bros with. The DNC knows that but the only alternative is to roll with Biden, which is just as bad. They can't win either way and they know it.

The DNC at this point is banking on the COVID-19 economic shutdowns hurting voter turnout for Trump just enough to help Biden get most of the key swing states and improving Democrat turnout by having a running mate for Biden who is not completely toxic to most voters.
They might pull off the former, but I know they'll probably fuck up the latter.
If they outright replace Biden at the convention or saddle him with someone like Stacey Abrams, Kamala Harris, or God forbid, Hillary Clinton, it will backfire on them massively.
The DNC's best bet is hoping and praying that enough of Trump's base will be overconfident and make the same mistake Hillary Clinton made in 2016 by thinking it's already in the bag and enough voters end up staying home. Even then, it's not a good strategy since so much of it relies on random chance.

We won in 2016 even while showing up fully expecting to lose so they are very much setting themselves up for disappointment. Clinton 2016 voters thought they were gonna win so they didn't turn out. Trump 2020 voters think they're gonna win because they're gonna turn out.
The two bases have completely different personalities and the Dems are projecting their own onto the GOP's. It really is amazing how different they are.
Put the GOP base together and you generally get the wisdom of the crowd. Put the Dem base together and you generally get groupthink. There's no other reasonable explanation for why the GOP base settled on an effective fighter in Trump and the Dem base settled on a inept empty husk in Biden.

I live in a state currently being fucked by a power mad governor and I cannot believe the number of people crying and begging for more facemasks, more lockdowns, more curfews and control. Calling this the "new normal."
People pushing the narrative that anyone protesting is stupid for "protesting a virus." The governor's supporters screeching on social media demanding doxing of protesters so they can be denied medical care if they get infected, denied voting rights, and charged with manslaughter because they want us all to die.
I'm fortunate enough to be essential and keep working, but these loons really are pushing the new meme that anyone upset about losing their job, business, home, etc is just an "entitled inbred redneck who's just pissy they can't get a haircut" and have no problem extending the shutdown until there aren't any jobs left to go back to, just to own mango Mussolini and his cultists or whatever.
I really don't get how they figure this is going to work out in their favor. It's obvious this is entirely political at this point. They're doing this stuff loudly and proudly, and then looking us in the eye and saying "Trump did this."

It's sort of sad the Dems are going to Trojan horse a woman into the presidency. For all the relentless rhetoric about women not just being as effective, but BETTER than men at leadership, why does the first female president need to get elected on the back of a senile boomer?
Credit where it's due, Hillary had a brand. She was a former first lady, yes, but she clearly had an identity besides that and, having a brain, kept the marriage going as a long-term strategic move.
If the first woman president is gonna be Gerald Ford'ed into office, it'd be more poetic and honestly funnier if Trump just ditched Pence and tapped Tulsi Gabbard, Kelly Loeffler, Joni Ernst, or Ivanka for VP. The GOP don't make big grand statements about gender politics and at this point their ideology is more about owning the libs epic style anyway, and what a way this will be.
Picture Trump in his final state of the Union address, saying he will resign in February 2024 and his VP will ascend. He'll probably continue to fail getting any election promise through congress, but a woman veep being handed the Presidency by the Orange Man can never be undone.

It is equal parts hilarious and sad to see how hard Stacey Abrams is jockeying to be Biden's VP candidate. Apparently she's been privately calling big shots in the Democratic party lobbying for their support. Usually such extreme thirst is a symptom of diabetes, might want to get that checked out, Stace.
