Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

Why the fuck is anyone mentioning sales when it comes to their opinions on shit? Nobody above the age of twelve's gonna make a worthwhile argument about liking something because of sales.
Sadly anything involving numbers will catch attention regardless of quality. If we translate sales to quality, Michael Bay's Transformers would be some of the greatest movies of all time.

I think it started out as a joke, like why would there be a fanbase for such a nobody character that only appears in party games. Then the autists failed to see why it was funny and took it completely seriously.
Taking a joke so far that it annoys and occasionally enrages people is also hilarious, coming full circle. Bad jokes can be Stirling engines.

I mean yes, but there's no point talking about that when analyzing or talking about the quality of something. Also when even something's successful despite not being that good it's because there's some element about that people want. And besides, shit that doesn't have quality going for it mostly gets forgotten about naturally when new trends pop up. so ultimately I don't see the point lamenting about it that much.

The Nintendo GameCube had overall better games than the PS2 or Xbox, yes it didn’t sell well at all but the overall quality of titles far exceeded the quality of PS2 or Xbox games, I mean of course the Ps2 had some fantastic games, some of my favourite to this day, and Xbox had the brilliant first 2 Halos but overall there was so much more shovelware crap thrown onto the PS2 and even Xbox at times, whilst The GameCube had the highest quantity of first party games on it despite its more limited library.

While yes there was crap occasionally but just look at the huge amount of random shitty PS2 games were made such as Shitty shooters like GUN, Bikini ninja slayers, Shitty ports of old Dreamcast shooters, Terrible music games, High School Musical sing It! American Idol, Family game Dance Party, and the Sea floor Plummeting Level of Quality that was Phoenix Games entire Library of Absolute Shite. When compared to GameCube, The overall quality Is way more consistent generally.
Woah woah woah woah, don't lump Gun with all those other shovelware games! I'd say in terms of the ratio of great exclusives, Xbox and Gamecube were pretty even.

As far as Nintendo goes, I think people seem to give them a free pass because they make really good games, but as a company they make pretty stupid choices. Every console they've made since the gamecube has had a gimmick as it's major selling point (Motion control on the Wii, "3D" on the 3ds, portability with the switch, etc) which is fine in theory but it makes their consoles basically garbage as far as the actual games go.

Like I'm sure the Switch is a great console, but there are only like 3 exclusives on it that anybody cares about (Mario Odyssey, Animal Crossing and Breath of The Wild). Even though I've been dying to play breath of the wild I really just can't justify the 500$ investment in the switch itself.

On PS4 I have tons of great exclusive games like God of War, Yakuza 0, MGSV, Journey, The last of us, the Uncharted games, Persona 5, etc. And what does the switch have in comparison, 3 really good games and portability? Just seems like a huge waste of money especially because nobody over the age of like 12 cares about portability.
While people certainly give Nintendo passes for stuff that they would endlessly criticize any other company for doing, I'd say Sony has the most overrated games this generation. Not terrible, and if people like them then awesome, but jeez I don't need to hear on every gaming forum how Sony is KILLING IT. Especially since I couldn't care less about Uncharted, The Last of Us, Detroit, or Horizon.

Everybody here either hates Sony or loves PC.
mate wat

First off hating Sony or loving PC aren't opposing positions so I don't get why you phrase it like one, however if YandereDev ever needs someone to make polls for him I'll make sure to get in touch with you first.

Also do you really expect to see lot of Sony loving in a unpopular opinions thread? Ah yes, Uncharted being a great game, the ultimate unpopular opinion, how does one make such a big brain take? Loving PC? Bitch what fucking PC opinions have you been seeing here lately? The closest shit would be some multi-plats, and even then they're on the actual games, not about the platforms they're on.
Meanwhile, Microsoft is sitting in the corner with Nintendo.
I see you haven't been paying attention to the Waluorgy happening above us, nor the Majora's Mask posts, or the many many other Zelda related opinions for that matter, it's hardly in the corner right now, let alone the thread as a whole.

Microsoft?

Eh, I'll give you that one.

I don't hate Sony, I just don't care about their games, bar a few (Spider-Man, Infamous, maybe God of War) and don't fully understand what the big deal is with them to warrant the extreme praise they get. Wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't constantly at the expense of games I like, making discussions annoying.

Nintendo games I rarely really play, at least post-Gamecube. Microsoft games I actually think are a bit underrated in the gaming community. Despite their flaws I'd say most are pretty fun experiences and I've loved my time with them.

I hate the zelda serie it's always the same thing, there is no place for creativity :
do the first half of the dungeon
get dungeon item
do the other half with said item
beat the boss with said item
barely ever use said item unless it's the grapple hook or boomerang

i didn't play BOTW tho, i guess/hope it's different.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake sold over 3 million copies in 3 days

The series highest was Final Fantasy 15 which sold 5 million copies in 3 days.

It's rumored Square has apparently attributed that there were not enough men in the game to entice women.More men bought Final Fantasy 7R than women by a far larger margin especially in America where as 15 was about a 50% split worldwide.

The most viewed content for men was tips and strategies relating to the game and the finer mechanics with walkthroughs being the next.

For women it was fanfiction and pictures of Sephiroth.

So now you understand why Sephiroth had to be in the game far earlier than normal.

AVGN has ranged from alright to crap since the movie. A lot of the episodes seem half-assed, not to mention how bored he looks with James & Mike Mondays (although I rarely watch that anyway). People say he's as good as ever confuse me.

I don't understand the purpose of framerates above 100fps. Certainly there would be diminishing returns at that point?

Every game that gets massive mainstream critical appeal and soyboy critics pissing themselves over it (the last of us, the witcher 3, bioshock infinite) is complete fucking garbage that only does as well as it does because the majority of consumers are absolute brainlets with zero critical thinking capacity.

Liking them doesn't mean you have bad taste or are stupid. Raving about how VIDEO GAMES ARE ART NOW because of the most generic shit possible, however, does.

It is, fortunately. All the items and abilities are useful throughout the game, and the dungeons have been split into two types - lots of very short ones that are beatable before they wear out their welcome, and a handful of combined bossfight/dungeon things at the end that are more action-oriented and much shorter than the slogs in the old game. BOTW isn't a perfect game but they've basically tried to combine the best parts of old Zelda with the best aspects of open-world games like Skyrim and they've done a pretty good job imo.

In particular there's an emphasis on fights, encounters and puzzles being beatable in many different ways and there's plenty of opportunities to get creative. It's much less repetitive than old Zelda games despite being a fair bit longer than most of them.

but bioshock infinite had racism in it, it's so deep 10/10
