Adds up. The grooming we have documented here seems to have possibly started late 2013, early 2014 when they met irl at these meets, and they started chatting on Facebook around March and April of 2014, where the grooming got especially nasty.

Given the content of these messages and how uncomfortable yet in love the victim was, my speculation is the victim told concerned adults, but refused to believe it was grooming when they intervened and/or press charges, so the only thing left to do would have been for those concerned adults to tell the rest of the kids to not be around or talk to Gabriel.

As for everyone else reading, more and more my furry adjacent or ex furry friends and I talk to people and realize a worrying and large percent of us were sexually abused and groomed at the hands of the fandom. The most disturbing aspects tend to come from ones like our very own Catch your Breath, whom was groomed from the young age of 10 years old.

My own experience is having been groomed by a variety of weirdos online from age 12 onward. However, I would venture to say that from ages 14-18 when I was involved with and groomed by furries was by far the most damaging, leading me to be exposed to and tolerate a wide variety of disgusting behaviors and fetishes as "just someone's kink" or "just the way they are."

My parents were dumb and negligent in many ways, but even they weren't dumb enough to allow me to go to furry meets or conventions until I was a grown ass adult. I can't imagine what gross shit would've happened had they turned that much of a blind eye.

So in conclusion, generally fuck anyone who believes the sick, twisted lie that furry is totally capable of being family friendly and totally fine for kids off all ages to participate in. I don't have first-hand experience on this. I managed to avoid weird adults and then dedicated my adult life to trying to make sure I avoid dumb kids. But I do have friends who got abused by weird adults. I'm friends with someone Growly preyed on, for example. I'd give a power level warning on that one, but I think there's a 1 in 10 chance that if you, or the rhetorical "you", have a furry friend then Growly preyed on them. I'm friends with someone that, in their own words, got pulled into a creepy dude's lap at one of their first local furry meetups when they were 17, at most. Without consent, obviously.

So yeah, furry isn't family friendly. Until a swift curb-stomping is the reaction to that shit it won't be family friendly. It's barely even friendly to adults, it's not friendly to animals. This shit is broken.
