What if CO2 was cut like this each year?
To keep the world on track to stay under 1.5C this century, the world needs similar cuts for the foreseeable future to keep this target in view.

"If Covid-19 leads to a drop in emissions of around 5% in 2020, then that is the sort of reduction we need every year until net-zero emissions are reached around 2050," said Glen Peters, also from Cicero.

I got a better idea. You can cut the world's CO2 output in over half with a single nuke. It just needs to land on Beijin. Oh wait we're not supposed to know how much CO2 China expells. Woops.

The fact china has a +1 tells me whoever made this forecast SUCKS at actual economics. As for spain. It's REALLY in the air how hard the hit will be over here. Because it depends on tourism. The utter drain of pensioners and drastic reduction on black market goods was actually really good for the economy, and it seems so far the regeneration plans are set to go smooth. But the utter hammering of the tourism industry will be quite a world of hurt. So between that, the EU bullshit and the capacity of our politicians to go full retard without prior warning. I'd say no prediction can possibly be made. Academic economists over here are practically screaming random models at each other and none seem to work. Thinking you can even make a solid prediction is an act of negligence at best and malice at worst.

Doesn't matter if you vote for the increases or not. Cuomo has a point-the states give money to local municipalities for things like schools, fire, police. Even if Federal bailout bux would go to paying down pensions and more money for dem programs and cash to illegal aliens, the blue states will just say "whelp can't give school or law enforcement grants to the towns if we don't get more fed cash."

Which means if there's no blue state bailout, local governments will soak property owners with tax increases to pay for schools and cops. It's that or shutdown schools and lay off police. Hope you enjoy your 20% property and school tax increase.

The numbers don't really show the whole picture obviously, though. What arbitary number do you have that is measuring peoples morale or willingness to watch everything around them shut down and maybe not reopen?

People are willing to risk infection now due to not seeing healthcare collapse in 99% of areas. They are willing to be hospitalized to try and save their dad's buisness that theyve kept afloat for the last 15 years. People are seeing their life's work destroyed for what? China's not only got the world shut down, theyve got the world screaming that noone else can reopen. Big thought there, huh?

Dr. Campbell video. He's a lockdown hawk and predicts the case rate will increase in the US due to lockdowns easing or being ignored.

However, that raises the question of what's the evidence for that? Is there a single example of a country that didn't follow the pattern of the curve growing fast initially and then leveling off? I guess we'll see what happens - in the UK the buzz from listening to endless political podcasts seems to point to the lockdown lifting. And other countries and US states seem to be doing it. I predict that lifting lockdown won't have any effect on the case rates.

Another interesting thing is that the Third World is behind the US/UK/EU in terms of case rates - there I do expect to see rates grow before leveling off. And that leveling off will happen despite the fact the Third World mostly won't have an effective lockdown.

Still, it means the disease will be around globally for quite some time. The UK is much too cucked to have effective controls on people coming in, and so are the EU and US. So that implies more outbreaks as new infected people enter the country illegally. And presumably more lockdowns of the natives in response, even though borders will stay open.

Sigh...

Wasn't there a study recently showing that the global lockdown barely made a dent in the CO2 emissions, proving that individual action won't do shit(in case you even believe CO2 is that big of an issue)?
