(we were talking about how apparently, according to her, Rise of the Guardians is being "ruined" by crack shipping and fanfiction that disrespects her canon)

Related to the above: "It offends the characters! Jack tells me it really offends him." (when I bring up that no matter how she wishes it, the characters are FICTIONAL) "Well then, it obviously hurts the voice actors and animators." (after I ask her why) "Because I know the characters best."

She later claimed she was pansexual, meaning she could make moves on our relative and incest didn't matter as long as love was involved. She then claimed bisexual invalidated "some traditional sexual identities".

She claimed everyone should feel good about their body and love whoever they want, and then started to argue that because I disagree with her, basically, I should feel bad about myself and become depressed.

In general, there's a theme with her - she seems to think depression elevates people, that becoming emo and cutting yourself is rebellion against a conspiracy consisting of the Sweeps, politicians, the stock market, and teachers' unions.

She also claimed education shouldn't be about teachers getting money. It should be about "having fun, like getting a new snake or dog or cat or whatever."

She's my personal lolcow, and I milk her whenever I am able.

however, the trivia topics were somewhat insane. i expected movies, music, maybe some geography and history. being the hip, swanky bar it was though, our first category was "latin american cinema" (i saw city of god once, guys) and the next was "ecological disasters". it was slightly off-putting, but hey, i had friends and alcohol so it was all good. at least, until the third category: famous feminists.

I hate to say this as a leftist, but this kind of academic bully is almost invariably a leftist.

I have had numerous conservative professors, all of whom were polite and respectful of differing opinions.

Perhaps it is that leftists are so often in the majority that they feel free to act like this, while conservatives are often on the defensive.

But I have generally felt a lot safer offering dissenting opinions in a class run by a conservative.

One of them, head of a department, I even semi-tormented in a good-natured way. He especially despised Foucault (bondage philosopher Foucault not pendulum Foucault) to the point of going off on an enraged rant about how he was a "degenerate Nietzschean." So I'd always cite to Foucault after that in every paper I submitted. Never punished in the slightest.

I consider inability to face dissenting opinion a sign of mental weakness. This is why I really detest SJWs. They give a bad name to things I care about.

I think the big reason for this is that on some level, conservative academics are willing to sacrifice the possibility of being ostracised from their peers in exchange for expressing their honest opinion. Whilst I'm also someone who's definitely leftist, I can totally respect a conservative if they're able to politely give logical, cohesive arguments. We're all human so we're bound to make mistakes; denying the opportunity to have your views challenged or criticised is denying yourself the freedom to correct mistakes you were unaware of and forbidding yourself to grow as a person. Accepting that requires you to be honest about yourself, which in reality nobody who holds extremist values, whether they are left or right wing are.

That's the thing about leftist academic bullies (and pretty much all SJWs), she can't be honest with herself that what she wants isn't a society that emphasises equality but what she actually wants is a world where she can do no wrong. By presenting herself as the most tolerant, empathetic person ever who consistently fights for the oppressed, she's aiming for people to promote her to a position of authority where she can paint anyone who disagrees with her as a bully trying to pick on the "nice" person. The most disingenuous of bullies and abusers know how to manipulate people by minimsing the possibility that their victims would be believed, which SJWs can pull off extremely well by simply presenting their victims as bigoted. If they've done well enough to erode their victims' self-esteem, even the victim themselves will believe they're horrible people who deserve to be bullied.

The best thing for them is that they get to put into practice the one thing they would never admit; they are happy to use a minority for nothing more than their personal gain. SJWs are just as harmful to giving minority a voice as racism is, possibly more so because unlike racists who will genuinely admit they want to oppress minorities SJWs will deflect the criticism with "oh but were on your side, were nice so you cant tell us what to do, besides i bet your just a gamergater pretending to be a minority STOP TRIGGERING ME SHITLORD"
