What PPP, Godwinson, and others in the background did here (looking at you @Kraut) did here is quite impressive. They targeted the specific weaknesses of each individual in order to split the group, but it wasn't a plan that required everyone to fall for their tricks, just enough individual people.
They've shown enough people to be in contrast to how they would like to be seen to do damage. They overreached with Jim and Null, but they still got their attention. Circumstances also aligned perfectly - coronavirus giving a lot of people time to look into this, making the targets a little more fragile with no excuse to not be online, etc.
PPP and crew aren't geniuses, but this went as well as they could have hoped. Shows that being a sped with too much time and an axe to grind can end in wonderful results sometimes, even if it usually ends in lolcowdom.
Dick Masterson is funny in a controlled environment but he is not quick-witted - bring him into situations where he isn't in control, question his character, sow truth in with believable exaggerations and let him hang himself. Attack his businesses and supposed libertarian ideals, make him overexpose himself. Make him so desperate he takes help from self-admitted pedophile Corey Barnhill. Blur the line between his character and his real life to make him seem foolish. Attack his points of pride.
Ralph is loyal to Dick Masterson due to him helping him at his lowest and constantly jumping on the show to give him a boost, so he will obviously defend him. Ralph has an army of speds loyal to him who will also run interference. These people also happen to be users on NP2. It fits into the conspiracy that they had ready to go. Ralph is famously thin-skinned and melts down, going hard on the drink and making everything worse.
Use Nick's willingness to give anyone a chance to get a bigger platform. Insinuate Null's use of NP2 is a compromise from someone who famously doesn't compromise (for god's sake, the man risked the ire of an entire country to stick up for his principles, he can risk Dick Masterson's rage and $2k a month). Attack Dame Peso's loyalty and overuse of his schtick. Draw attention to Toad McKinley who has obviously sold out by his shift to focusing on Chantal. Hope that Metokur somehow compromises himself, perhaps by defending himself or a friend. Throw enough punches, land enough blows so that eventually some of them are knockouts.
Their conspiracy is ridiculous (more easily explained by friendship than financially obligation or blackmail) but interesting enough to get people to look into it. When they are there, they can see these people aren't who as pure as they show themselves to be. Every bit of real damage was done by the people themselves - Nick's overzealous mods banning people, Josh locking threads, drunken Ralph sperging out and being thin-skinned, Masterson shouting a lot of childish insults, Pesos with no real input, Gator/Flamenco flagging shit and running clean-up, etc.
The worst of this was Masterson not only trying to use Corey Barnhill, known pedophile, to his advantage and having it blow up in his face, but showing he was already in contact with him. Nick Rikeita's willingness to go along with this was also damning. Drexl played a magnificent role as a level-headed person with no real skin in the game showing what we were all feeling.
