I'm surprised anyone thinks this game will ever be finished. His code is such a mess, I don't know if it's even possible for him to make a finished/well running game with rewriting the majority of the code. I wonder how much longer he's going to keep up this scam before he just takes the money and goes dark lol.

Nobody believes this on the Farms, at least. What I do wonder is how it will go out, he can't keep up the scam forever. I think a good template for this is TeamFourStar's DBZ Abridged series. At first they produced episodes somewhat regularly, racked in a lot of YouTube shekels (and probably Patreonbux too) and all was good. Then they started doing all kinds of stuff on the side like Let's Plays and various other types of videos completely unrelated to DBZA, but they still produced episodes somewhat regularly. The most recent episode they produced was all the way back in December 2018, a year and a half ago. Somewhere in 2019 I remember that someone on Twitter mused that they don't intend to finish DBZA and just let the money flow until they could no longer keep up the charade, and one of the creators called him out and was offended by the implication that TFS was lying to their fans for money. Three months ago, in early februari 2020, they announced the end of DBZA. Look at the video but more importantly look at the comments (all positive) and the like-dislike bar (overwhelmingly in favor of like). Between that video and the present day they made 30 other videos, are comfortably sitting at 3.5 million subscribers and even have a secondary gaming channel that's still going strong.

The worst thing is that I wouldn't even blame them if they announced the end of the series a few weeks or months after the final episode. It was the end of the Cell saga, it's honestly not a bad point to end the series. It's the end of an arc and gives some closure to the fans unlike Naruto Abridged, which just fell off the face of the planet... and its two creators also happen to be half of TFS. Coincidence? Instead they just had to bait their entire fanbase along for a year and a half with the false promise of new episodes coming any day now.

If Alex is intelligent, I predict that he's going to do roughly the same thing TFS did. At some point it's likely that the updates will stop altogether, Alex is going to ride out his tugboat until it runs ashore and then he's going to announce that for various reasons production of the game has stopped and that he's very sad but there's no way to prevent this. Then he's going to stay a semi-successful Twitch streamer appealing to the fanbase of sycophants he has built up over the years until they eventually grow bored of him as well. I just think he'll be less successful than TFS in that regard, mostly because Alex is a fucking autist and exploitative whereas TFS are just scammers.

This amazing thread and the pure autism of yandev pushed me to make an account on here and I'm glad I did it.

Welcome to the farms, I'm sure someone with such good taste in monster waifus as yourself will fit right in.

Leave it to Alex to have a private webpage but not have any kind of password to access it. Instead just relying on the goodwill of the person to leave on their own volition. It's almost laughable how incompetant he is, but I shouldn't be surprised.

Because Mulberry's art is questionable at best I didn't even realise that was meant to be Luna. I thought it was a bigger titted Ryuko Matoi clone.

I was thinking maybe the big breasted version of his "light music club" leader...either one could be true. I wouldn't be at all surprised if her design was based off of Ryuko.
Also looking at the art...Mulberry can't do perspective. Her hand on her hip is waaaay too small. First the magical girl having too small feet, and now this. No way her torso is that long.
Is this the Kiwi equivalent of tripfagging?

In other news, a programmer has released a 2hr stream going through and critiquing the decompiled source code. I'm about 10 minutes in, so I can't speak to the quality of the video:

Edit: I'm going to edit in some highlights.

0:31:00 - He opens the YandereScript and just starts going "nonononono".

0:34:00 - "CensorSteam..? *chuckles* I've never played this game, does Yandere get naked?"

0:42:15 - "Hmmm, how big is this function... [closes 2k line function] *gasps* nooooooooooooo"

Oh. Can't wait to watch this here later

The discovery of Eva’s memes by normies was a mistake, tbh.

The amount of autists who jumped on YS shitting is unbearable, they repeat the same lines without any their own thought, and amount of people who know how to do better and starting their own YS-like games is laughable.
Well, more lulz for us, but seeing same jokes about if/else is annoying.

Never thought I'd check the farms today and be reminded of DBZA. Had sone friends way into that weeb stuff and they'd try to get me to watch every new abridged episode. Faggots I never even watched the original show! Thank goodness it eventually ended. As for Alex surviving his scam's eventual end, I don't know if he has the personality to keep a community together. But then again, DSP is still somehow relevant.

Keep this in the Dragon ball thread.

Does any other yansim ripoff ever goes anywhere further than its inception? It took him 6 years and counting but at least alex has a playable demo to show for it. Playable being debatable but still.
Call it my recency bias but my experience from that whole temtem fiasco is that when your only sale pitch are 'x but better/done right' then it's usually going to suck even in the off chance it came out.

I’ve got a little list of YS ripoffs that make me laugh, and I even wanted to make a big post here, but recently thread was full of wееns so I’ll wait for a better moment. Or maybe we need a YS ripoffs thread? I’d be happy to make one.

Watashi no mono is frozen, dev works on some other game iirc?

A mobile ripoff was released long ago.

One girl wanted to proof Eva it’s possible to make everything in his game in 3 months and quitted after 3 weeks with UwU sorry video. She couldn‘t go forward in development because she didn‘t have stabbing animation lol. But the way she told how it’ll be better then YS and how she gave advices to Alex is hilarious.

Other person started working on a rip-off just couple of weeks ago, with a school/college set in France. They already described backstory and many many features while the only prototype they shown is a character model sliding in a room. Also, they are in need of volunteers too!

and more, heh. YS-like games and it’s dev diaries are my little autistic hobby.

And again here works the general rule: if you need to prove you’re better then a lolcow, you’re most likely not.

Not really familiar with all that situation around Abriged (and don't care, honestly speaking), but situation isn't the same in my opinion. From your words they at least were doing something significant, I mean one complete episode > "oh, look, now you can turn into Corona chan, but game is still a half-broken sandbox", at least you can watch this shit, it's a tangible progress. If they were in the same situation, they would've released first two episodes and then teased their fans with the release of the third one for years.
Also, I don't know why people think that he has any capability of becoming a streamer, especially if he says that game will never be released. People already call him out on his bullshit, but his sycophants can argue "you just need to wait", not in that case though. Imagine the amount of exposing videos that will come after that, his hate wagon will turn into fucking steamroller, people will raid his shit nonstop and most of all, I'm sure some of his closest volunteers are going to break and tell how big of an asshole he is, because all of their efforts have turned into dust.
I've talked before about one VN author, whose situation is bizarrely similar to Alex's, but what saves him in some way is that he crowdfunded his project on Scamstarter, so people have already given him money and now can only wait, but if they were giving him money every month, they would've expected some kind of progress at the same rate.

Edit: can I use strike throughs with the code? I'm so tired of not using them.

I agree with you in general but let me play the devil's advocate: the mobile rip-off (Yandere school?) is a complete game with unique character models, a minimal amount of glitches, a story, win conditions and loss conditions. It's a lot less ambitious than what Yandere Simulator aspires to be, but at least it's a game. I wouldn't even considere YanSim a demo and neither does Alex himself (hence the whole "V-slice" thing) because there isn't even a way to win the game.

But then again, that one felt more like a quick cashgrab to make some money off the hype rather than somebody trying to prove something.

Most of the people watching Alex's streams are YanSim fans that want to support the creator. If he just says "I give up" only his mods + his friends over at the Evaxephon will remain.
Not to mention he's YandereDev because he's making YanSim. He would need to get a new name if he wanted to keep being a streamer but his voice and face are everywhere nowadays.
Either he finishes his game or he will be locked outside of the internet forever, but we know Alex can't do either.

I don't doubt that Yandere Simulator will have its concept 'stolen' and executed by someone else eventually, but it's never going to be from someone who announces it or is in the Yandere Simulator community.

For all of his faults, Alex is definitely tenacious. Few people could do this for six years with so little progress and a well-earned community of hate followers. Yandere Simulator started by Alex just running off and doing it, and although his motivation was asspats, he at least fucking did it.

Honestly, I do believe a skilled programmer could reach where Alex is in a year or two but they'd have to be passionate about such an autistic project, which is unlikely.

I added this one just to show there is a released game, and even if quality of a game is questionable, at least it’s done. Devs didn’t inserted themselves into a drama(and there were no much drama back then anyway) and made a game on a trending theme. Good for them tbh.

I’m more interested in projects, started by someone who wants to prove something to Alex/community or make new YS but better/without problematic things. That usually is done by people who overvalue their skills and abilities, but they still get the bootlicking fan base of YD haters.

I wonder, how does one even leave a computer out there for this long?

My bet would be being too much of a dope to set up a dedicated torrent machine.

Amusingly enough that was the original line that lead to Skullgirls, so the desire to make a game like another game minus the suck is at the heart of all of this. I suck at fighters but I can still appreciate how thoughtfully designed that game is on all fronts.

A made a quick glance through an holy shit...

I am an amateur at coding but even then I know how Object-Oriented Progamming works. I mean, he could litterally make his code less of a toilet papper by adding methods who will just standardise process for all this stuff. He's coding on damn C#, it's all about OOP. No wonder he keeps using else if statements, he clearly doesn't know what methods and classes are and how they should be used for optimisation...
No sane programmer will look at this and say "Yes, this code will do".
I feel filthy after looking at this...

might it be like this because he’s more used to Java? He started this game on JavaScript, maybe he just uses the same programming principles even while coding on C#. I have only experience with C#, but quick google search shows JavaScript isn’t a class-based language.

Java and JavaScript are completely separate languages. If Alex was actually used to programming with Java (and was half decent at it), then making the switch to C# wouldn't require that many changes to programming principles. C# is pretty much a less shitty version of Java.

JavaScript is an object oriented language, but I strongly dislike JS so I really can't explain how the fuck OOP works in it.
