🐱 Elon Musk and Ivanka Trump 'red pill' reference slammed by The Matrix director

Elon Musk may be a new dad, but he still has time to kick up controversy on Twitter. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO tweeted Sunday a reference to The Matrix, which drew a tweeted response from Ivanka Trump. None of it went down well with one half of the movie's creators, Lilly Wachowski.

"Take the red pill," Musk tweeted, along with the rose emoji, referencing the scene where Morpheus gives Neo a choice whether to take the red pill and learn the truth about The Matrix, or take the blue pill and carry on living his former life in blissful ignorance.

Ivanka Trump tweeted "Taken!" in response, and Lilly Wachowski, one part of The Wachowski siblings who wrote and directed 1999's The Matrix, replied, "Fuck both of you."

She then shared a link to the LGBTQ non-profit Brave Space Alliance, calling for support.

What Musk meant by the quote is up for speculation. In politics, "take the red pill" can refer to shifting your political views to the right. The Red Pill subreddit, dating back to 2013, popularized the term in online forums related to Donald Trump or men's rights groups.

Musk has been busy on Twitter of late. Last week he jumped on to threaten to relocate Tesla's California headquarters and sue San Francisco's Alameda County over the county's shelter-in-place rules.

Finding out that the Wachowskis only went tranny after hooking up with a dominatrix whose last partner also ended up as a tranny was one fuck of a red pill for me

.At first i figured since the matrix is a Gnostics story figured they were into some mysticism stuff and this is some sort of union of the sexes mumbo jumbo chaos magick stuff (grant Morrison does chaos magick and has his female alter ego for it). Crazy but that whole artist metaphysics stuff can get crazy if you let it go to far.

Then i found out they were just coomers and nothing more.

Here's a picture of "Lily" by the way.

Separated at birth????????
Jokes aside, the Ogre from Quake is always a really funny comparison for me when I see people like that.

He was obviously telling us to take the Red Rageous pill, but twitter isn't ready for that conversation.

i'm sorry, fuck everything. you just reminded me of that scene in everybody loves raymond where in the middle of a conversation with his wife, he takes a mike and ike out, eats it, and puts it away without ever mentioning anything. that was the single dumbest fucking thing i think i've seen on that show

I hate to break it to people, but words and phrases have meanings that change depending on context and culture.
‘The Red Pill’ could mean anything from tittypills to right wing stuff to hating media to DXM. It all depends on who is saying it and why.

Yeah the articles goes out of its way to say the Red pill is right wing, when in the movie, it was to uncover the truth of what the Matrix was.

Imagine thinking you still own memes after you put them out there.

Is there anything good this aging tranny is known for besides the first Matrix?
Bound is great. Came before The Matrix though.

I also think about half of the second Matrix is as good as the first, it just gets tainted by the other half.

After either one of them trooned out, though? Not that I saw. But I tended to avoid their products because the people worshipping, say, Sense8 were the exact opposite of people whose tastes I trust.

Why do left leaning people (not even far left this has been going on since the 80s) need to always need to say "We do not endorse so and so using our song/reference/what ever"? No one bloody assums that you endorsed what the First Lady or Musk said. No one assumes the singers endorse a political canadate when they use a song during election campaigns. But yet they complain.
Because what media you choose to consume has become a political act. Music has become just another dimension of branding,, as has film and fine arts.
