Keemstar is smart enough and has the preservation instinct to sweep his bad baggage under the rug, and a concise recap of that bad baggage isn't uncalled for.
What's uncalled for is how Ethan carelessly had his fanbase cancel Keem's sponsorship with G-Fuel, but even that worrying development was blunted by how much the internet dislikes Keemstar.

It's not disingenuous at all; he made the implication that time and a brief apology means absolution of guilt, and that it's cool that Keem fucked up an investigation and outed a poor man of being a pedophile multiple times.
