It isn't 100% clear, but he likely lives an extremely sedentary lifestyle. He realistically doesn't need to move for much of anything with any frequency and never actually has to leave his house. He also (allegedly) has a tendency to abuse pills that will make him sleepy/groggy/tired so there are likely days he doesn't get out of bed at all. At the start of his ongoing divorce fiasco - he was mad at his future ex-wife for not cleaning he house, meaning she probably primarily did that for him as well. He's the father of 3 kids, none of them seem to want to have anything to do with him. The one he visibly got along with bonded with him over sedentary activities (livestreaming and let's plays) so it's not like he's out in the world helping his kids with soccer practice, playing tag or hide and seek, etc.

If he's feeling "fancy" in a day, he'll get out of his bed and go sit in a computer chair for 10-16 hours before going back to bed. Possibly only moving for ready-made meals and bathroom breaks.

The only time he "broke" from this tradition is when Something Awful had a physical office he would travel to, even though said office was not far from his house and when he was in said office he would be confined to a chair/the couch inside of it.

Richard's life seems like one of those NASA "we'll pay you $10,000 to live in bed for 90 days" except he's been getting ~$10,000 a month and been doing it for like 15 years. The last "extremely physical" thing Lowtax has done on camera was getting 100% shithoused in a boxing match by Uwe Boll for 3 minutes in 2006.

Amazing. Many people have jobs that require sitting in an office all day, and yet have the self-discipline to at least go and make the effort to be active with friends socially, go to the gym, find an activity, etc.

Sloth truly is a sin.

It is, but to be partially fair to Lowtax, he was likely one of the earliest internet shut ins in recorded internet history - so it's not like he had a ton of background to work with.

He was one of the first people to "make money from a website" to a point where it replaced an actual, real job. It's somewhat common now, but it was basically unheard of in 2003. For him to make real friends, it would require him to be active in real life spaces.

He also lives in fucking Missouri. If he lived in California or New York, he could likely meet some of his internet friends for non-internet things and tried to build a healthy life that way. Instead, he transitioned into several long-distance internet relationships turned into messy and hilarious divorces and then further transitioned into super depressed pill head.

He also is a very bad businessman who thought his money and fame would just last forever. He watched as Ebaumsworld (a competing comedy website known for stealing material) sold for $17,000,000 dollars in 2007 and must have had the brilliant idea that SA was worth more and held out. Reddit - another competing website - is valued at $3,000,000,000 roughly, Twitter is at $4,400,000,000, 4chan (created by an ex-SA member) was sold for an undisclosed amount as the former owner got picked up for a high level job at google, all while Something Awful generates (allegedly) a few hundred dollars a month in revenue.

He held on to SA too long and it's quite clearly not the same website it was in 2004 - financially or comedicaly. Not only did he basically waste all the money SA earned (which was alleged to be $500,000 a year for a few years) but now it's a website he doesn't really belong on; despite the fact he created it. His job path is currently begging these people who he hates (and likely hate him back) for money to live on - just because he owns the forums they now post on and control.

So to be fair to Lowtax - if I messed up my life as bad as he did his - I'd totally just do drugs all day long while my spine dissolved as I wished for the sweet embrace of death.

Imagine not being willing to do basic maintenance on your body to the point it starts to break down in your mid 40's, you start getting warning signs as early as your 20's and it's not like you have to become some sort of fitness freak

-balance your eating
-Get at least moderate regular excersise
-moderate your vices.
-Take into account any medical issues and react accordingly

The level of joy you get from sitting on the sofa eating garbage 24/7 is a shadow of the agony that await's you if you don't go for a walk in the park every so often.

As I've said before in this thread, Lowtax is someone who lives 100% in the present moment and only cares for being comfortable and satisfying his base pleasures. He's completely incapable of planning ahead or making short-term sacrifices for long-term reward. If something doesn't give him what he wants right now, he doesn't do it. That's why:

- He pissed all the money he made in the glory days of SA away on stupid shit rather than invest it and as a consequence is permanently broke
- He let dozens of business opportunities fall through his fingers because the payoff was too far in the future so he didn't see them as worth the effort
- He won't invest money or time in fixing or improving the forums because he sees it as just money out that he could spend on pies or booze
- His solution to any problem (for example the 2019 troon revolt) is whatever will make it go away the fastest (giving them what they want), not what will work in the long term (banning the troublemakers and changing the culture of the site to something less insane).
- He can't work in partnership with anyone unless that person is literally sucking his dick to compensate for him doing work that won't pay off for a while
- He had two wives leave him because he won't plan for his family's future and will stick his dick in anything with a pulse
- He's addicted to booze and pills and isn't interested in getting clean because getting high is fun right now and that's as far as he can see
- His health is continuing to deteriorate because dieting and exercise isn't fun and eating garbage and getting wasted is fun

As ever with trying to understand why Lowtax does what he does, just remember that to Lowtax, future Lowtax is a different person who can deal with the consequences of his actions. Present Lowtax is the Lowtax that matters, and present Lowtax wants to buy sports cars, get drunk, get high, eat junk food, stay in bed till noon and coom.
