I'm pretty sure the criminal complaint was in hopes of getting an investigation started. If Preston is incredibly lucky they'll charge Ethan with something. If he's astronomically lucky the charges will stick.

Either way I expect he plans to use any information from a criminal investigation to help him with a lolsuit. If the investigation turns up nothing then Ethan is an angel and has nothing to worry about.

One is the cost of self-publishing rather than going through another publisher, and the other is the difference in profits he could have expected versus what he got. The first is fairly easy to prove (he just shows his receipts for his costs of switching over) and the second somewhat more difficult as it is speculative and would require expert testimony to establish.

You really should google the difference between civil and criminal cases before continuing to make an ass out of yourself. Damages aren't awarded in criminal cases, and that's what filling out a police report (criminal complaint) triggers. If the cuck's plan is to ruin Frog through Discovery in a civil case your post suggesting that is enough for such a suit to be stillborn. Thrown out as soon as it's filed, with possible sanctions against the plaintiff.

Damages aren't assumed in contract cases. It should be fairly trivial to prove at least nominal damages, though. His lawyer would have to fuck up pretty badly to fail to do it.

That being said, proving damages is going to be difficult if Meyer turned down comparable deals from competing customers in order to sue and his crowdfunding more than made up the difference.

The lawyers will sort it out but given Meyer's success in spite of Waid's meddling I don't see a lot of hope for a ruling that pays out Meyer much of anything even if he wins. It may all get dismissed because there are no damages to be had in the courts view. Who knows.
