The quality of celeb has gone downhill as PETA got loonier and loonier. They weren't always this insane, like many advocacy groups they started from a reasonable point and then the crazies got in charge after they achieved a little success and recognition.

And like those other groups, their mission statement sounds very reasonable. I mean, if you haven't been peak transed and know nothing about it other than the name and what it claims to do, Trans LifeLine sounds like a worthy cause as well.

PETA's insanity has been a lot easier to see more recently so the name is losing its lustre, but being anti animal cruelty is probably the safest political position for anyone to take nowadays. People in general don't think to check into charities too deeply, especially the big name ones with a reputation, so unless you're keeping up you won't have realised how off-message places like PETA and the ACLU have become.

tl;dr: They're not getting the same calibre of celeb, and are still coasting on 90s goodwill and a now-deceptive mission statement that makes them sound like the perfect cause for someone who wants to be charitable but also uncontroversial.

No, Ingrid Newkirk has always been flat out evil. It started out as a cult in the control of the same people who control it now. Nobody took it over. It's always been the same evil group based on a deep seated philosophical hatred of all life.

In regards to Africa, people have been donating money. It's never worked because literally throwing money at something doesn't fix it, which these dumbasses seem to not understand, which makes it all the more stupid and clear that their "Eat the Rich" shit is them being shallow braindead idiots. I wouldn't be surprised if the entire world has thrown over 10 trillion dollars worth of funding to Africa for the past like, 4 decades that have involved donating that shit.

The only purpose of foreign aid to Africa is to assuage liberal guilt. Nothing short of a century of European Raj is going to unfuck Africa.

Remember when Bob Geldof organized FarmAid, collected a shit-ton of money, got himself knighted, and the money helped pretty much no poor Africans, because the warlords came back immediately after the photo-ops and robbed everyone? African aid in general follows that pattern, with money being handed to gov'ts, and those gov'ts being corrupt as hell, and spending the money on themselves.

China's trying that shit with Ethiopia and Nigeria, currently. The problem is that China cares even less about the lives of Africans that they do about the lives of the average Chinese person, and they definitely don't care about environmental standards, .or any kind of business ethics.
