Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

I was looking at archival communiques from Silesian voivodeship to see how the miners are doing. Basically, despite having confirmed almost 4000 infected miners now, the overall number of hospitalized people is actually dropping, so almost none of them have symptoms that would warrant hospitalization. This is consistent with some news I've heard from the bordering Czech region, where out of a few hundred miners only one went to the hospital and was discharged several days later. I bet there will be no deaths whatsoever in this demographic.

Not sure if this was posted, but Pew Research is trying to be partisan:

Basically, they're ignoring that most of the death spikes were in Democrat-controlled areas to begin with, while Republican areas generally just hold steady at comparatively low deaths.
Nice way to spin it. The Dem states let things spiral out of control, most people who could have died - did, and even then after months of brutal lockdown they have 2.5x the deaths of Republican areas. So we say they improved. Spectacular.

So Mom had a birthday 'party' yesterday. People, including me, left her birthday gifts by the door. Today, one of the guests was revealed to have the WuFlu.
So I'm in a funk about it today. CDC said the virus doesn't remain on surfaces after saying it wasuntil the beginning , either the virus spreaded to her and/or the other guests and me, and the fact that this happened to my mom when the thing was supposedly dying off and the 'gift' of the virus.
It's like some ill-mannered joke and I want to laugh about it but I don't feel like it.

Apologies for blog-posting but I had some unfortunate timing. The good thing was that he has a mask so, I hope that's enough for it to not spread.
Don't let the worry bring you down, there's an excellent chance your mom will be all right.

A lot of people have it but may not be contagious. Even If a viral test revealed the guest had it, it is not necesarily transmissible. If it’s an antibody test that reveals the presence of the Ching Chong flu, it’s even less likely.

I forgot to warn you yesterday so let me make a small anouncement: Yesterday ISCIII finally formalized the database and started culling data from all of the autonomies more efficiently. So that has reduced the number of deaths considerably due to multiple factors. (Including, as I told you. People who demonstrably died from something else but got added in due to having covid, which includes (and this is my favourite case by far) 2 people who got ran over by a drunk driver. I know I shouldn't laugh at an accident but "died due to covid after his innards were smeared unto the street by a car collision" has to be the funniest fucking "wait why did we count this?" Moment.) People who were added at first because they were suspicious, and another favourite of mine, people who were added multiple times because of how much our bureaucracy sucks. God save our mess! This means ISCIII is now asking for proper testing of suspected deads so data will probably wobble a few days, but for now, we got a massive downspike. So if you see less dead on the global data, don't worry, it ain't zombies.
100% of "Covid" deaths were among people who consumed water daily. Using the "experts" logic I posit that water is the true killer. Ban water NOW.

Dr. Campbell covers a large scale study that looks like very bad news for Hydroxychloroquine and Azithromycin as a treatment - death rates are worse than the control p<0.0001

The money shot - these are in hospital mortality rates

Why is Hydroxychloroquine being tested on inpatients?

All the news parrots are saying now that states are undercounting the dead. In unison. Lol!
Of course they're undercounting. They hate the thought of massive reimbursements $$$$$$$$$$$. The clinical term is "money phobic".

Does anyone suspect half of the covid deaths are being inflated snd they're likely unrelated to COVID19? Don't get me wrong, it's fucking scary to have it mess up your respiratory system, but i don't think it's as deadly as the media make it sound especially when they're downplaying other flus and cancers to make covid sound like a bioweapon

Perhaps not "half," but still a very significant amount considering how most of the deaths are geriatrics with comorbidities. Never mind that there's been cases of fucking gunshot victims being counted as Corona-chan deaths - They really want to gin up the numbers and collect those sweet sweet federal financial incentive dollars.

I am utterly over this virus. It's trivial to the healthy and restrictions upon the healthy have proven to be grossly tyrannical, and I'm living in a state still mandating masks for entry into businesses amongst other psychological fearmongery.

I am enjoying seeing their economy somehow not give a single shit immensely. Good job you yogurt munchers. You gotta tell us how you did it later. Also Spain still did pretty well, not feeling the damage as much as the north and winding up in 4th place (budapest and zagreb got 2 and 3 respectively) and we landed on the best marks we got in over a fucking month so it seems finally the V is real. Hope it keeps rising.
So we dont need to print 750 billions to keep you alive?
makes me almost feel bad, i like the printer sound,,,

Its all the beer!

In EU news, The EU is fighting the Lufthansa deal and wants alot of money with no real plan.
the 750 billion they want are bad, but attacking germany for the Lufthansa deal is just a retarded move. the deal is way more taxpayer friendly than the deals other carrier got. the main problem is that the EU wants Lufthansa to give expensive airport slots to potatoe airways and others for free.

Same here.

Don't believe it will be long until it's realized that the widespread placing of entire states under long-term (more than 2-3 weeks) house arrest was one of the worst things ever to happen here. This could have been done smartly. Lockdown for two weeks. Then identify hot spots, quarantine those areas and buffer zones, and let everyone else go back to work/school/whatever, using reasonable precautions. Believe this would have gotten the job done with a minimum of disruption to the economy and people's lives. And if this had been stated up front believe you'd see an extensive buy-in. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to devise such a strategy.

However, NONE of the states who placed their people under house arrest used this rather simple model. NONE. The little Hitlers that "run" these states apparently never even entertained the thoughts of (a) make the lockdown as short a possible, with the minimum of disruption and (b) one size doesn't fit all. What may be appropriate for a large city may not be applicable for a rural area. I find this beyond disgusting. Utterly beyond my comprehension, but then again, I use logic rather than politics to work issues.

If there is anything good to have come out of this utterly fucked-up clusterfuck, it is that people now see just how quickly and easily these governors go full Nazi. Believe Whitmer, Newsom, Cuomo and maybe Ige of Hawaii need to be recalled right now. They have been easily the most draconian of these Nazis. Don't even believe my namesake would mandate some of the shit Whitmer did. Can't buy garden seeds/seedlings in stores? Just when gardening season is starting? Michigan residents can't go to their vacation homes, but if you live in another state no problem going to your vacation home? Can't use a motorized boat on the water, but a nonmotorized boat is okay? These are not the mandates of a rational human being. No medical justification whatsoever for such ukases. Just a lust for power and a hatred of the people.

These house arrests ceased to be health-related after three weeks. Then they all turned into political power trips. Incredibly, these "geniuses" apparently totally forgot that tax revenues of all kinda would take a dive with the entire state on house arrest. Now they want a bailout from Washington. Fuck that and fuck them.

Looking out a year or so, believe the economic disruption can be fixed, as long as these Nazis leave people alone. The biggest, and perhaps the most important effect, is the widespread loss of trust in and respect for state/county/city government and law enforcement. Those bonds have gotten more and more frayed over the years. This shit shattered them, possibly irreparably. While some dumbfucks will say the house arrests were worthwhile, they are wrong. People overall see these long-term house arrests were simply not justified, brought a great deal of unnecessary hardship, and stoked a lot of anger. Next time there's some sort of calamity doubt there will be a lot of cooperation with government edicts. It's now known that politics transcends logic, every time. Those in charge care only about themselves and their power. So if they don't care about us, why should we believe anything they say?

This shit didn't have to happen. That is did is an indictment of every little Hitler who fucked over their people.

One thing that grates my nerves about this virus is how people use the dead/elderly/etc as a crutch for pro-lockdown/stay-at-home arguments. I haven't lost anyone to this virus (thankfully), but I do worry about relatives and friends that could be affected if they catch it. And even if I did lose someone, I wouldn't go preaching to others about staying at home.

The way Massachusetts so quickly capitulated to the mandatory mask order this month has convinced me that I've been living my entire life in a state full of unquestioning sheep, and it might be high time I move on out. I'd sooner live in Georgia or Texas, keeping my carpetbagger head as low as possible.

Ah that explains it. That wapo article is just fearmongering at it's finest.

Same here. Lottery coming up in a few minutes. Hope my numbers come up, then it's back to Texas for this kid. The house arrest and the power trip was the last straw for me.

For the person dealing with stay-at-home arguments, just tell them according to the CDC over 100,000 Americans die EVERY MONTH from cancer and heart problems alone. Another 150,000 die each month from causes such as diabetes, strokes, accidents, falls, homicides, suicides, hospital-acquired infections, etc. Yet we don't wreck our economy and put entire states on house arrest to stop the spread of the aforementioned killers.

I noticed that the pro lockdown people on this site don’t even come into this thread anymore. This is thread is getting boring without them.
It was exciting when everyone thought this was a new airborne AIDS that was making people drop dead in the streets, but now we know that it's just pretty much just speeding up the deaths of people who were going to die in a few years anyway.

Reddit is where you need to go if you want to gawk at people demanding civilization to be homebound for 2 years and going "Is anyone else glad that coronavirus is forcing people to be as lonely and miserable as me? I hope it never ends".

What do you guys make of this?

I don't know how I feel about this. For all I know, Washington Post is just scaremongering.
Yes.
They aren't wrong.
This species of Coronavirus will now probably always be with us. However, even without a vaccine eventual herd immunity + viral evolution (natural selection favors less lethality, because killing your host limits spread) would make its impact less than the "novel period" where the immune systems of humans are non-existent.

Of course its WaPo so the author is probably trying to hint that we should stay locked down forever and live off UBI in our pods.

It got tiring at first hammering the same shit over and over (infection lethality rate less than 0.8%, it doesn't "reinfect", muh lonk lastin neurologikul damidge!, etc.), but now its boring.

It is nice to see normies outside of KF start taking this less seriously, though

I don't blame them. Wu flu doomers are the new y2k doomers. They will be cultural laughing stocks for the next few years. A lot of them already know this and are trying to distance themselves from it.
