Dealing with a riot is all about fear. The rioters need to fear Law Enforcement enough that they never really TEST law enforcement. Law Enforcement then does quick, precise strikes on the largest agitators while attempting to break the larger crowd up into smaller ones.

But, and this is the key thing, the crowd is stronger than the police. There is more of them. The Police need to keep the ILLUSION of being stronger long enough and hard enough to ensure they can take out those key agitators. If that illusion is ever broken, things go south FAST. A crowd missing that element of fear is no longer restrained and will rapidly escalate, feeding on its own inertia and momentum and almost always getting BIGGER.

I agree with whoever pages ago said to just make these barbarians live in the ruins of whatever it is they're going to burn down. Civilized folk have no business getting wrapped up in bullshit like this. I still recall not too long ago when that antifa shit was going down in Oregon and they were blockading traffic and harassing people who were in their vehicles. I can only imagine what sort of shit could possibly develop.
