Is this whole thing a deep state op to get Drumpf to finally crush Jersh??? Prolly.

Yeah I fucking hope so, I wish the unavoidable distopia to start as late as possible. Also, I understand the extent of the situation here and how it would really fuck up Josh as well as pretty much every single other site on the internet, especially pirating sites, HOWEVER
If this turns out to be a complete nothingburger, I will LAUGH SO HARD. I will meme this fucking thread so brutally. I will take screenshots of this thread and hang it on my "Wall of Gay" next and glue dildos on it. This better actually be a HABBENING, I want some enjoyable stuff to come out of this.
This has a 90% chance of turning into the jogger thread 2.0, and i cant wait to laught when trump gets bored of this dick messuring contest with jackNull's reaction, while reasonable and justified, will be funny in the near future if this turns out to be a nothingburger.
Reminder that John Perry Barlow and the OG Internet freedom fighters literally fought against CDA.The internet was fine before* 230 and it will likely be fine after.
This idea that it will allow the US government to kill the internet is overblown imo. There no practical way to enforce it (just look at all the failed attempts to censor the internet in the UK and China) and there's no motivation to enforce it (the US government isn't going to spend a fortune chasing no-name internet forums in foreign countries).
There's the obvious loop hole of allowing false flaggers to run rampant. Want a site shut down? Create some offending post and report them to the US government. The government would soon get sick of having to do lengthy trials against every site that Twitter checkmarks don't like.
So even in the worst case scenario where small forums disappear and big tech cracks down on everything and anything, I doubt that state would last very long unless the US government criminalizes all internet.
*I don't know when 230 was made so it could be something that predates the internet and was modified over time, in which case it can continue to be modified.
Oh, he's going to get it, there is nothing more the 6 megacorp internet giants wants and dems want too. It's all part of the "program".
Didn't a lot of streams of the riots last night go down because Youtube claimed it was recording illegal content or some such? It's so confusing even for someone who does spend a lot of time on the Internet to know just how their standards are applied (that includes most all popular social media platforms).Well, different category. That's clearly in the scope of reporting. Trump, on the other hand, is making a threat. But the threat is clearly to quell illegal action (looting), and can't sanely be considered "glorifying violence".
Yeah, sure. It´s completely normal for a president to go in a tweetstorm not implying but actually saying he will repeal or work to repeal some foundational protection for the internet. You know, it just shows mental fortitude and stability. Even better it´s to do it after stringing along your base for 3+ years on that promise and just acting when it affected directly you - it just show how connected to your plight he really is, completely unselfish. I can´t think on a better guy to depend on regarding freedom and stability. That´s why TRUMP IS MY PRESIDANTAlso, I understand the extent of the situation here and how it would really fuck up Josh as well as pretty much every single other site on the internet, especially pirating sites, HOWEVER

I think Null isn't really that scared of Trump actually pulling it off, but is dumpfounded that so many people support mass censorship ifit is pushed by Trump while screeching about the evil left taking their right of freespeech(which is sometime true).Feel free to rate this optimistic, but my guess is that Trump is mostly sabre-rattling here. In order to actually repeal Section 230, he'd have to get bipartisan support in Congress. Between "Orange Man Bad" and Silicon Valley spending more money on lobbying than Wall Street, that's basically never going to happen.
The EO potentially lets him use the near-infinite power of government lawyers and red tape to screw with companies that particularly annoy him though, so Jack has probably painted a target on Twitter's back.
Remember how hard jersh sperged in the Sulemani thread about how Drumpf had just sent us to war for Israel and it was game over? What's so funny about it?
Section 230 was implemented in the 90's. The internet was no where near this level of important back then. And even back then prior to this law people were still catching lawsuits left and right. The internet was fine before* 230 and it will likely be fine after.
Trump is threatening to nuke the internet, any rational person would take this seriously, regardless if it has high chances of being a nothingburger. Also, I understand the extent of the situation here and how it would really fuck up Josh as well as pretty much every single other site on the internet, especially pirating sites, HOWEVER

Wait for it to clear the FCC. Anything that happens will depend entirely on the definition of online platform. It'll be interesting to see how many lawsuits get filed now against some of these platforms.
TRUST THE PLAN WW1WGA
That will never happen. He's saying outlandish things to scare Jack Dorsey and get Paul Singer's attention.
The actual policy agenda is contained in the EO.
I mean, maybe I'm wrong, maybe he's planning another EO repealing Section 230 in its entirety. Which simultaneously destroys the chief communication channels for his reelection campaign, immediately eliminates $2.2 T from the US GDP, puts him at war with people like Peter Thiel, and alienates everyone in America under 70. Sounds plausible.
Facebook has real content moderators and that's why there were a million Verge articles about the trials and tribulations of being a janitor for Facebook. Can you imagine how much it would cost Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube to manually review even a fraction of their content? Right now they get by mostly with piece of shit automated systems thanks to being shielded from liability if they screw up. If they could actually get sued for content they hosted, they'd have to spend real money on proper content review. Why the heck would they want that over the current system, where they can be incompetent and cheap with zero consequences?
