From precedents I don't think there's a case, even though he very clearly is responsible for his death.
The system is pretty much designed to make sure that police can operate freely without concern of consequences for their actions.

The thing that really pisses me off about the people supporting these riots behind their computer screens is how they make genuinely braindead false equivalences to shit like the Boston Tea Party or the Hong Kong protets to make them feel morally justified. Not to mention how they also constantly copy and paste that one MLK Jr quote about rioting out of context.

I mean I'm not exactly surprised but what exactly can he do? The Governor has to order a state of emergency / martial law and request aid from nationalized National Guard units. Even then, it's just the Governor and the Military's show with little to no actual input from the President

There would be no double standard. Because when it comes to the Chinese Communist Party the American media has no standards at all. They simply do what Beijing demands that day. If Corona-Chan has done nothing else, its shown that American media companies are more loyal to Chinks (or their money anyway) then they are too their own country. They will happily lie about their fellow citizens, post hostile government propaganda as fact, and cover for overt acts of genocide and oppression.

If for some reason China were to pull a Japan and hit Pearl Harbor tomorrow, the front page on CNN will be that Donald Trumps reckless foreign policy provoked them and they had no choice.

That doesn't mean the action itself was illegal per the criminal code. Police get a shit ton of leeway in performance of their duties. Prior to looting, you had a lot more white people taking the side of the black man than usual because the fact that shit like this might not actually be illegal is concerning to them.
