Twitter Hides POTUS Tweet

@Null I've said it before, but I'll say it again: I really think you should write a book or an essay about your experiences running this site. You're in a unique position and your story could be helpful to internet historians and people seeking to create a controversial site of their own. Few others have had to jump through so many hoops and face so much harassment just to run a website. If Trump pulls the lever, please write about what you've been through before vanishing forever.

He is a lolcow and somehow has a cult-like following that includes members of a site dedicated to laughing at lolcows

Like PPP and Null. Actually, with a lot of cows like DSP I just think it's funny that they manage to evade any sort of consequences through dumb luck. It's like watching a slapstick film where a baby crawls across the road, chaos happens around them and they're completely unharmed and unaware they were even in danger.

I dunno?
alt.crapped.briefs ?

alt.aussie.orchards would be a good name.

I will pass this nugget along.

Nothing, NOTHING makes a legal department and the upper brass's assholes pucker like the possibility of Federal oversight. Give a bunch of C-levels and corporate lawyers a coal enema, mention they are now getting regulated by the Feds, and they will be shitting diamonds for the next week. I cannot properly describe what it is like to have the Feds even tangentially involved in corporate decisions, except imagine if you had go through the DMV very time you had to pee.
This is why so many industries implement "self-regulation".

This is a threat. This not a new threat - Facebook has been taking heat for essentially leaving up content that triggers folks, and that's likely because someone at Facebook was aware that this was coming. I'm pretty sure Trump/Trump's legal team with support from the RNC has been waiting for Twitter to fuck up. Twitter really chose the wrong time and the wrong way to fuck up, in that they published "debunking" to what ammounts to opinion pieces while the president's statement was backed up by actual incidents of voter fraud occuring. (to the tun of dozens of votes but technically correct is still correct)

THAT SAID, this is a really, really poorly worded threat if that bluff is ever called. 230 protections are vital, removing them is terrible, and while something needs to be done about the Soy Valley fucks grabbing their ankles for China and various wokes, the EO and the threat it carries doesn't do anything directly about that.

HOWEVER- the simple possibility of Federal involvement should be sufficient to bring about positive changes and and social media having to put in at least some token work before deplatforming people with opinions they object to.

in summary: A good thing done poorly.
Road to hell, good intentions, etc.

@Null, I remember telling you this back in September 2019, and I repeat it now.
You aren't even 30, you got a lot of new life to see and do. This site is cool, but don't let it keep you down if you got other ideas and projects for your life.
You are a very determined and talented young man and you always reach your goals when you put your mind to it. I do believe you have the resources, time and intellect to successfully enbark in whatever new venture you have your mind. on.
Things have a beginning and an end in life, and this site is no exception.
It was fun, and I think that whoever hasn't been a complete sped on here will regret the time spent here, but life is also moving on.
If the repeal passes or you wish to close the site for whatever other reasons you see fit, I'm sure we are all ready to support you and thank you for the hours and years of laughs under lucricities you offered us by hosting this platform.
Thank you, Null.

Hope he sees this, sis.

Shape of things to come.

I'd take this about as seriously as every other time he's threatened to use an executive order to solve a problem "once and for all". Donny's having a boomer moment because Twitter keeps pissing in his cheerios, this is honestly probably the exact reaction they were trying to draw out. My guess is he either realizes that he needs to walk back this dumb shit or at worst he signs it and the courts take it out back with a shotgun.

The actual EO was basically 'follow your terms of service faggots.' The 230 screeching was calling for Congress to do it, but we know they aren't going to do shit he asks for.

Another Boomer who knows absolutely nothing about the internet trying to strip away its fundamental usability and greatness because they’re offended. Huge shock.

Trump threatens something that could affect the farms (as empty as it may be) and there are still going to people defending his actions on KF to OWN THE LIBS. I've been saying this for years, Trump is just a lolcow who somehow became the fucking president.

A lot of Trump supporters would let Trump shit in their mouths if it meant The Libs had to smell it.

Donny's EO is pretty much nonfunctional and I can't imagine its effects being upheld in court.
you can tell something fucked up is coming because no judge in this entire country put the block on him. travels bans lasted less than an hour. This EO going for a day+ means he's falling for another kike plan. Withs Jews we all lose

Except when they are trying to be the cheapest game in town.

That should be written as 'except when they still have to use venture capitol to cover expenses'.
Look, Comcast / Verizon can charge streaming services to carry content on their network or they can charge consumers. When was the last time you got a bill from your ISP that includes a streaming surcharge?

My ISP is a literal non-profit public utility that only cares about expanding bandwidth.
They don't even have a lower upload limit, you pay for 300mb you get it up or down.

I think you've got the inverse take.
Read the EO. He is threatting to have the FTC/FCC look into social media and their practices for "inconsistencies" in content moderation.

Let me give you an example. HIPPA is the big scary healthcare data protection law.

There is a sentance buried deep in the law "You don't have to actually implement any of these protections if it is not feasible. But if you fuck up, we can send a federal auditor to investigate, and you need to explain to them why you didn't implement, and you'd better do a good job".

I knew someone who went through a HIPPA audit for a (self-reported) breech. He said the auditor was extremely reasonable and accepted their justifications for about 90% of things he questioned, and about half of the other ones they took a "we'll look into the feasibility of implementing" as an acceptable answer. But his managment chain was losing their minds every day for about 6 months while this went on, even though nothing came out of it except they fast-tracked some already scheduled changes.
