Twitter Hides POTUS Tweet

Notice how what he's threatening to do doesn't actually solve the problem. It just makes these platforms so liable for what they publish that the only solution is to censor even more. Any defamation complaint would mean tweets and videos would have to go down. If someone posts something here and I get a complaint it's defamatory, I have to delete it or accept liability.

Repealing Section 230 does not just spite Twitter. It emboldens Twitter to censor as hard as possible and jeopardizes any small forum without financial resources. I cannot become an outlaw for the forum. I cannot throw away my American citizenship for the forum. I've already done enough, and with the way Trump supporters are cheering this on, I don't even want to even bother.

That's the point. There is a concept of "the hell of getting precisely what you asked for." Repealing section 230 will be like tube feeding a glutton. He's not trying to put out a fire, he's throwing kerosene on it. When Twitter either fails in the task, or has censored so many people that it loses subscribership, it'll be the desired example (Saul Alinsky). The flat call for repeal is two fold a.) He can't legally just target Twitter. In order for this to survive an injunction, it has to be placed broadly and evenly. B.) It's similar to private Pyle eating the donut while the rest of his bunkmates do jumping jacks. Jack, and anyone like him, if this gets legs under it, will likely be so radioactive by the end of it, they'll never have another project again, and who knows, we may wind up seeing the death of social media broadly.

He can't personally repeal Section 230.

Yeah, it was legislation passed by congress. Unless my understanding of the civic system of the US has been hilariously wrong my entire adult life then the executive can fuck with US Code, usually by ordering agencies to re-interpret or re-examine existing laws that result in small changes, but Trump can't just shitpost laws out of existence. Kinda confused by all the doomer shit because while getting rid of 230 would be insanely stupid, I don't think there's any legal way for that to happen short of a bill passing both chambers of congress (lol) and reaching his desk. Why would he release an EO modifying a law he was about to somehow repeal despite seeming to lack the power, and if it was actually in his power why wouldn't he have done so in that EO instead of just posting about it on twitter?

rate me optimistic but unless I'm exceptional and missing something important here it looks like the same noise he always makes on twitter when he wants to stir the pot

For my two cents on the matter, the EO appears to be mostly investigative in nature. This looks like Trump is forcing a review of Twitter to set up for a court battle. A court battle to decide if Twitter is a platform, where anything that is legal to post can be posted, with no risk to the platform, or a publisher, whereas you are liable for what is posted.

Depending on how things go (if the above statement is even remotely accurate) Twitter and Facebook might face a pair of choices their current staff fear more than being simply regulated out of existence: being forced to open the floodgates for a wave of originally banned users, essentially having minimal power to control the narrative, or being legally liable for every drop of libel(and slander) posted on their “crowd-based open source publication”.

The Executive Order is more nuanced than that tweet. But to be fair to Trump REVOKE 230 is snappier than 'the FTC will look at Tech Companies on the shitlist we created using the Tech Bias Reporting tool and shall consider whether to strip them of their CDA S 230 protection'. And even that doesn't really convey they who EO, it's just my precis.
The EO is not the goal in and of itself.

If they repeal Section 230 of the CDA I will close this site the same day and none of you will hear from me again.

Not gonna lie, it would be ironic if Trump being assmad about Twitter ended up being the end of Kiwi Farms and thedonald. If it does end, it was a hell of a ride and thank you for hosting our shitposting

All this because Twitter management decided to act like children and put their hands on the stove.

Or we could have a president that acts like an adult and not a 14 year old girl

I was looking forward to using my stickers to trigger trannies but in a cruel twist of fate my stickers will trigger me while the trannies laugh because the Kiwi Farms is FUKKEN DEAD.

Anyways, if things do go south thank you for all the shit you went through in order to ensure we all had the chance to laugh, Null. I sincerely wish you well.

I think you guys are missing the part where even if they repealed that bill, someone else could just reinstate it at the end of the year. I know it's easy to be all doom and gloom, but people are always going to find a way to have freedom to express themselves, legally or not. Maybe a worldwide ban on simple conversation is what we need for a censor free technology to erupt from its corpse. An internet made purely wireless with no physical hosts or accountability. Or you know, you can just wait a few months for them to put their law back if they lose it in the first place.

Oh no, it's absolutely hilarious. Even more hilarious is how much they'll whine when he returns it in kind.
If I got my wish, it would come down to an agreement that Twitter can still flag Trump's tweets but they also have to flag all "Kill all cis white men" and "Vaccines cause autism" tweets as well.
