So while the Marines were still in-country during that fracas, the LAPD decided to get them as backup to roll on a few gang houses. Funny story; one of the USMC/LAPD units gets in position, now, the Marines are only there for protecting the cops, not actually arresting anybody, but they can act in protection of the police.

Cops get in position, jump off, and start moving in. The CMFIC with the cops gets on the radio net to the Marines and says "Cover us!"

To the police this means "point your guns downrange and be ready if shit goes down".

To the Marines this means COVERING FIRE.

So the Marines in their humvee, with .50, and with their M16's, they fucking open up on the place. Incredibly, amazingly, in spite of the little shit-built ranch style getting shot into, through, and out of, and being full of gangbangers, nobody gets killed or even injured. But that was a house full of hoodrats that gave up to the police PDQ.

Rumor control had it that almost every single gang banger (and a couple of cops) shit themselves when they saw all that w/-Tracer whipping through the house.

I think the cops held their ground, doused the crowd in tear gas, fired off some bullets, and people went away.

I'm guessing the cops are attempting to bottle up the protestors to one area of the city like they are doing in Atlanta and letting them exahust themselves in stupid rioting.

If I lived in MN and worked in downtown I would've called in sick for sure as all these cars are trying to get the fuck outta there and it's roadblock after roadblock.
