According to the FBI's San Francisco branch, the shooting occurred at the Ronald V Dellums Federal Building when a vehicle approached the building and opened fire at the security officers.

“The FBI has deployed investigators and the Evidence Response Team to the crime scene,” the agency said in a statement. “We will continue to work this investigation alongside the Oakland Police Department.”

The Federal Protective Service is part of the Department of Homeland Security and is responsible for protecting more than 9,000 federal facilities across the country.

You'll find that isn't really that uncommon of a perspective from African and Caribbean immigrants to the US. Generally, they're aware of the quagmire bumblefucks that their home countries are - postcolonial shit, tribal shit, financial shit, everything wants to kill you, shit infrastructure, crime and random-ass armies everywhere - and recognize how much better it is to be able to apply themselves in a stable and secure country that isn't going to try to chop them up if a harvest goes bad. They tend to earn more, live in different neighborhoods, vote differently, and keep steady and solid family structures.

There's a strong sense of frustration in seeing so many people just absolutely refusing any opportunity and condemning themselves and their children to a perpetuity of squalor, perhaps amplified by that all-too-familiar "who needs hard work if I'm just hard enough" attitude.

I dated a girl that has Caribbean ancestry and her parents would punish her for even jokingly using ebonics and shit. The racist "blacks are genetically inferior niggers" doesn't really stand up when you look at immigrant Africans and blacks and and also even when you look at racial stereotypes from past cultures. Africans being unintelligent didn't register with ancient cultures that interacted with them on occasion (such as the Romans). In fact the ancient world had much different sets of stereotypes towards groups we'd vaguely consider to be races today to some extent.

The problem is American liberals tell blacks that they're held down and they can't get anywhere unless they vote for liberals--just look at Biden's recent gaffe saying that if you're voting for Trump over him, you're not black--and the lefts increasing radicalism and sometimes-hidden, sometimes-not-so-hidden flirtation with socialism and far-left ideologies mean they NEED things to be bad and need to emphasize solely the bad in order to attribute it to American capitalism and culture. The left quite simply needs black people to feel disenfranchised and targeted. Despite how much better things are today than they were in the 70s and 80s the feelings are getting worse because the left can't survive if they say things are actually getting better and not worse.

Can you imagine how much harder the left would have it if they didn't have racial conflict to fall on? If racial tensions ever get solved suddenly a bunch of democrat politicians are out of jobs and leftwing radicals would have to attribute social progress to something other than the workers owning the means of production, and they'll never have that. The left actually did a lot of good for racial relations in the past, and they simultaneously want to bank on their old legacy while sort of acting like things haven't really improved at all.

That's not to say the right wing isn't causing damage on this front as well. Their inability to do anything about the thuglike police forces and question this level of authority, and their haughtiness towards things like marijuana are just making the country worse. They'll defend gun ownership and say that even if you ban guns, you'll never get rid of people having them and then turn around and argue for ruining people's lives for a plant that make you feel funny--as if making pot illegal is going to stop people from wanting to get high as an escape from their problems. Given that marijuana is still a cultural thing with African Americans these stupid laws hurt them as a group the most.

Believe "they" REALLY need to watch out.

There are a lot of white people angry at what happened in Minneapolis, in addition to the house arrests.

There are a lot of black people angry at these house arrests on top of Minneapolis.

There was no call for the extended house arrests and what happened to George Floyd. These have been unilateral actions of politicians and law enforcement. "They" are seriously underestimating people's ability to get very, very violent when they don't believe their concerns are being met, and especially should people believe they have nothing left to lose. Believe the recent extended house arrests have put way too many people, of all colors, in the situation where they have lost everything already. But even one person in that situation is one too many for me.

Can see people coming together in a common cause due to these atrocities. Can also see direct action coming in a number of forms, not just rioting. The harder the push, the harder the pushback, and I believe the people have already been pushed too far.

Am not advocating violence, but am pointing out just how easy it can be for the shit to hit the fan here in carload lots.
