I am astonished that within 24 hours the violence looting went from being a righteous expression of black anger to a nefarious plot by Illinois Nazis and possibly Vladimir Putin, and maybe even Mexican drug dealers. The only way this could get any funnier is if black people start delivering beatdowns to the skinny white chicks who showed up to smash windows.

Population density can, to an extent, explain that. Cities are just far more crime ridden than rural areas in general. Take an urban city, adjust for urban poverty rates 10.5% for whites and 27.0 for blacks per 2011-2015 US Census data, and look at crime rates. I went to do it real quick myself in a couple cities to see what I could see and was not surprised to find that crime stats by perpetrator race were not quickly and easily available. It doesn't really matter anyway. Even if you found that urban blacks below the poverty line committed crime at higher rates than urban whites below the poverty line, it would be hand waved away by saying the black community is racially targeted and profiled by the police.

It's all racism in the end. A culture that perpetuates broken homes, glorifies criminal activity, and a crabs in the bucket mentality has nothing to do with it. Giving black people a different attitude and outlook on life won't change things automatically just like throwing gibs at them won't and one of those two things involves people in power having conversations that will get them condemned for being racist. Working through that conversation also might actually solve problems and put activists and racebaiters out of a job. They don't want that at all.

even "the trades" is iffy at best. especially in the old days. You could get blacklisted in NJ,PA,NY and other places if you pissed off the wrong mobster. and having your license and ability determined by the mafia really hurt the AAs ability to become licensed professionals in their major cities or in the south.

sure that changed recently, bu this whole "learn a trade" thing isn't all its cracked up to be either, you can still get fucked by the guild/union/licensing agency pretty easily. There's a reason so many blacks join the armed forces.

That doesn't factor into what I'm saying. There are smart people in the hood and their life sucks. There are also dumb people who managed to carve out for themselves a happy little life working at the tire store or whatever. It's being in a positive social network versus a negative one that makes loads of difference. If all your friends smoke crack you probably will to. If all your friends spend the weekends building birdhouses with their kids you probably will too. Moving from one life to another likely means rejecting and distancing yourself from your old loser buddies and family members. Most people are not willing to make that choice.

The wasatch front does have a decent number of Dems, though the state as a whole is Red. Mormons are not dems by and large.
