Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

Welp shit's hitting the fan. Generally very slow news day in most aspects. Corona has spiked in madrid and catalonia again, nothing too bad though just 200 infected and 30 deaths, nothing to be that worried about. Catalonia finally sees its tourism destroyed compared with the rest of spain due to their appaling criminality. 'Bout fucking time people figured that out. But there is 1 news that does matter.

The Los Pascuales fiasco is finally being fought against. On top of the prior fuckfests now we've found out another bout of corruption related to them by which on top of the fucking absurd prices (reminder: the los pascuales method of business is to abuse public contracts to give the cheapest and least quality available treatment to the population and then massively overprice the junta for it, with a multiplier in the tripple digits. And now the junta is trying to send them 15 specialties in exclusivity and dismantle our public healthcare.) It also turns out that contract was signed illegaly without public contest and they haven't even adhered to their part of the contract and indeed have been misdiagnosing people so as to send them away if they had diseases that took too long to treat so as to not overload their capacity, which is illegal on so many levels.

So now there's a protest incoming, the White Tide has convoked healthcare professionals and villsgers from the area affected by this to go to the hospital of Jerez to march. Shit is, they know damned well what they're doing, as they've specifically stated thst this march's purpose is to "velar armas", a ritual performed by knights before great battles to ensure the quality of their weaponry. In other words, the march itself will be peaceful, that is why it's done outside the public hospital, but it is a war declaration, and the message is clear: solve this or we will solve it. Through violence. Either the Junta concedes and stops this madness, or the Pascuales will be torched. There is no negotiation. There is no reasoning. This is not a threat, it is a warning.

Told you it would end in violence.

POTUS voted 5-4 that the government treated churches fairly, as compared to businesses during the lockdown. Roberts again. So if someone thinks the judiciary will stop this abuse of power, the likelihood just got way lower. A sad day for America.

Have been thinking about this. Some things worth considering.

Believe "they" REALLY need to watch out.

There are a lot of white people angry at what happened in Minneapolis, in addition to the house arrests.

There are a lot of black people angry at these house arrests on top of Minneapolis.

There was no call for the extended house arrests and what happened to George Floyd. These have been unilateral actions of politicians and law enforcement. "They" are seriously underestimating people's ability to get very, very violent when they don't believe their concerns are being met, and especially should people believe they have nothing left to lose. Believe the recent extended house arrests have put way too many people, of all colors, in the situation where they have lost everything already. But even one person in that situation is one too many for me.

Can see people coming together in a common cause due to these atrocities. Can also see direct action coming in a number of forms, not just rioting. The harder the push, the harder the pushback, and I believe the people have already been pushed too far.

Am not advocating violence, but am pointing out just how easy it can be for the shit to hit the fan here in carload lots.

I would have thought it made sense for POTUS to call bullshit on the restriction on the people’s right to assemble.

This was disappointing but not unexpected. Roberts is a cock jockey.

Now that the numbers are in and it’s just the flu bro, even with Venezuelan accounting, you’d think they would have found the lockdowns grossly unconstitutional.

Michigan, USA

(crosspost from the reopenings thread)
The Feds are coming for Whitmer.

Some highlights:
"The U.S. Department of Justice is supporting seven businesses that filed a lawsuit challenging Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's executive orders to combat COVID-19.
In a "statement of interest" filed in the case Friday, the Department of Justice says the businesses have "identified what appear to be arbitrary distinctions among business and activities in the state of Michigan that lack a rational basis."
According to the Justice Department, the statement of interest is part of U.S. Attorney General William Barr’s previously announced initiative to review "state and local policies to ensure that civil liberties are protected during the COVID-19 pandemic."
...
The suit was brought by Signature Sotheby’s International Realty Inc., Executive Property Maintenance, Intraco Corporation Inc., Hillsdale Jewelers, Casite Intraco LLC, Shortt Dental, and Midwest Carwash Association."

(both of these next two were mentioned in the George Floyd Riots Thread, but they're corona-related, too.)

Michigan United for Liberty, a group that has been organizing anti-lockdown protests, has cancelled their rally that was planned for tomorrow, Sunday May 31, so as not to be associated with the Floyd protest that has also been planned for that date.

Governor Whitmer wants designated areas for peaceful protesting. The article mentions protests planned for Detroit, Flint, Bay City, Kalamazoo, and Grand Rapids.

SHUTDOWN SHOWDOWN
Shelter-in-place order from Tuesday March 24 to Monday April 13. Friday, May 1, Friday, May 15, May 28, but May 22 for the farthest north, May 21, kind of? But also June 12 May 1, maybe? (archive May 21) (executive order saved on KF) . The Republican-controlled legislature has refused to extend Governor Whitmer's emergency authority. Governor Whitmer insists her emergency orders are all still in effect (Rundown on the laws).
State attorney general Dana Nessel (D) is also leaving enforcement of the stay-at-home order to local discretion until the courts weigh in on it (archive). She has stated Governor Whitmer's orders are valid and are to be enforced (archive). The legislature is not calling for civil disobedience at this time (archive).
The legislature has filed a lawsuit against the governor (archive). Oral arguments were heard May 15 (archive). A Court of Claims judge has ruled in favor of the governor. The legislature has appealed.
State senate leader Mike Shirkey (R) is also supporting a petition drive to change the law. Such a petition would require 340,047 signatures to be collected. It would be veto-proof if approved by the legislature, and would go on the next general election ballot if denied by them (archive 1, archive 2, archive 3).
U. S. Rep Paul Mitchell (R - The Thumb) has filed a lawsuit independently against Governor Whitmer, in federal district court. Link, pdf on KF. He has also founded a committee to work on the petition recommended by Sen. Shirkey.
The U.S. Department of Justice is supporting another lawsuit, brought by seven businesses (archive).
There have been over a dozen lawsuits in all against Governor Whitmer's actions during this crisis, mostly regarding the shut-down order, in various stages of progress and in various courts (summary of eight of them). However, "all deadlines applicable to the commencement of all civil and probate actions and proceedings" are suspended until the end of the states of emergency and disaster. Executive order, and thus in limbo. (archive).

LAW AND ORDER
All localities given more discretion to release prisoners early (archive). It was an executive order. Who knows if it's still valid?
Detroit shootings up, but most other crime down (archive - April 30); Muskegon police report crime is up (archive).
Breaking the lockdown is a misdemeanor, punishable by $1500 fines and 90 days jail time. (Still valid???) Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D) has stated there will not be a "ramp up" of police enforcement (archive). The attorney general has left it to local law enforcement to close businesses, as her hands are full with price-gougers and con artists (archive).
The police cannot, at present, pull drivers over simply for being out during the shutdown (archive). Multiple sherrifs from the rural north to Detroit suburbs have stated they will not be enforcing or not strictly enforcing parts or the entirety of the order (archive). An increasing number of businesses are quietly ignoring or publicy defying the shut-down orders.

OFFICIAL DEATH TOLL

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reviews deaths and adds overlooked cases to the count three days a week: Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday (usually). Recovery counts are updated on Saturdays.
37 deaths were added today.

MDHHS said:
Regular reviews of death certificate data maintained in Vital Records reporting systems are conducted by MDHHS staff three times per week. As a part of this process, records that identify COVID-19 infection as a contributing factor to death are compared against all laboratory confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Michigan Disease Surveillance System (MDSS). If a death certificate is matched to a confirmed COVID-19 case and that record in the MDSS does not indicate the individual died, the MDSS record is updated to indicate the death and the appropriate local health department is notified. These matched deaths are then included with mortality information posted to the Michigan Coronavirus website.

MDHHS said:
Note on recovery: During this response, MDHHS is reviewing vital records statistics to identify any laboratory confirmed COVID-19 cases who are 30 days out from their onset of illness to represent recovery status. As the pandemic continues to impact Michigan, this pool will expand to include more cases. Recovered is defined as the number of persons with a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis who are alive 30 days post-onset (or referral date if onset is not available). The number of persons recovered on May 15, 2020 represents COVID-19 confirmed individuals with an onset date on or prior to April 15, 2020. If an individual dies from a COVID-related cause >30 days from onset/referral, they are removed from the number of persons recovered. These numbers will be updated every Saturday.

Hundreds of thousands of people in America have rioted in major cities for several days. Not observing social distancing or wearing masks. Steel yourselves for a million new American SARS-CoV-2 deaths by the end of June. The president of CNN admitted earlier: "Now I am become death, the destroyer of worlds" .

Where are the usual cucks to warn us about the spike in cases two weeks from now? They seem to have mostly gone radio silent

No, this will prove that the lockdown was unnecesary.

Two weeks ago: "OMG you need to stay at home and save lives! If you want lockdowns lifted, you're literally a Boomer Nazi Karen conservatard who wants to see PoC and grandma die!"

Right now: "OMG if you're not currently taking it to the streets to throw molotov cocktails at cop cars and destroy local businesses, you're literally a Nazi KKKlansman Drumpf supporter far-right nationalist who eats PoC babies for breakfast!"
