I don't know why people automatically assume a democratic system is actually representative. Just look at the trial of Charles the first. Most of the population was completely against Parliament railroading the king, and Parliament even had to use military force to shut down people against it.


The core aspect of democratic nations which makes them largely un-representative is that even under ideal conditions, they only represent the population at the time. Let's just look at government entitlements. Boomers voted them in which certainly favored their generation, but it should have been overtly clear to anyone that, that was destined to be a rapidly drying well. Now GenZ is getting fucked in the same manner by Millenials. Additionally, democratic forms of government naturally require the population to be well and properly informed, which is just... Here in the US we don't require people to represent themselves in a court of law anymore, because obviously not everyone is capable of being a lawyer, and yet we assume that the population will make better decisions on a national level, which requires far more highly complex decisions?
