You have a cause that, whether you agree or disagree or even hate, is genuinely supported by actual people in the real world, and since they genuinely believe in this cause and because they are the ones who stand to be directly impacted by how this cause is seen by the rest of society, and given how its their homes and businesses and livelihoods that are on the proverbial or literal front lines, they will almost universally do everything in their power to keep shit on a halfway respectable and presentable level so as to maximise their own moral highground and chances of mainstream support, and also to minimise any pretext of their opponents to declare them unhinged or dangerous and any danger to their own lives or property.
.....and then you have a bunch of disgustingly cynical fauxnatic pretend zealots who decide that such a cause is the perfect excuse to act like the biggest and most obnoxious and offensive scumbags they can think of in order to get social media asspats for stunning and brave radicalism, to act out masturbatory LARP revolutionary fantasies, to steal shit they want from burning stores, or even just to be the violent amoral pieces of shit their egos make them feel entitled to be.
Not one of these specimens give a shit about the cause, not one of them will do any of the hard work with those who believe in the cause. And not one of them care how much their actions will doom the cause and those who are trying to genuinely support it.
They will simply show up and set fires, smash buildings, shit on sidewalks, assault members of the public, scream demagogic and contradictory far left sounding slogans, declare a thousand different revolutions, steal anything they want, and when the dust clears and the cops start cracking down and wider society is united in absolute contempt of the cause they see as responsible for all this, the opportunistic rabble will scurry away and leave those whose cause they hijacked to face the music and take the blame, and they will do this again and again so long as being a faux-radical edgelord is in vogue among media and social media goons
This is what the entire political left has become. Normies with actual ideals and actual causes being aggressively muscled out by clout chasing goons, grifters, and psychopaths who have decided that performative extremism and insincere fanaticism is the best way to fulfil their selfish desires with zero reprecussions, either by directly fucking things up for eveyone in person, or casually sitting on the media or social media sidelines and farming clout and coverage by pushing ever more absurd depths of extremist insanity.
This is why we have seen so much jawdroppingly self defeating ultra-SJW sounding schtick emerge from the highest eschelons of supposedly left wing media and politics both in general and in relation to these riots. Those spewing it dont give a fuck about whether the cause crashes and burns under the weight of their bullshit, they dont care if the population starts going harder right in revulsion at the shit they say and advocate, they dont care if trump wins again. They just want to get paid, get retweets, and get power and prestige for themselves and their own agenda.
