Those first 4 Scary Movies were very dumb but they did admitally have some funny stuff in them.

That's more than can be said for some of those laters spoofs like "Epic Movie" and "Disaster Movie" which had literally zero laughs.

Few OTR drivers carry guns. You have no 4th Amendment rights in a CMV. If the DOT wants to go through your sock drawer in the sleeper birth, they can. No warrant. That plus all of the state/local jurisdictions you would have to keep track of means if you have one you have to keep it hidden so they can't find it easily, that typically means not easily available if you need it.
In this situation it isn't needed anyways. Lock your doors, granny low, and lay on the airhorn until you are through it. It's 80,000 lbs and 500 horsepower. You will make it through better with than trying to shoot your way out with a dinky 9mm.

That said, this guy was a regional dude. Probably home every other night or something. Tankers don't stray far from home base.

Interstates are never clear like that so he had to know something was wrong. I'm guessing he dodged some barrier to get at them then chickened out. Or he's just an idiot, took a wrong turn, couldn't figure out how to get turned around, and panicked. Either of those things are arrestable for a commercial vehicle. Road closed means road closed and they don't give you much leeway. Could have avoided the asskicking if he didn't come to a complete stop like a dumbass though.
